Vintage Pair Church Flower Vases This is a lovely vintage pair of Flower Vases used in Church. I'm not certain what the metal is. But I think it is some kind of brass. They stand at 15 inches. On the outside they are in beautiful condition. There are some signs of usage inside the vases and some on the bottoms. Both are places of high contact, but there are no major signs of usage. On the fronts of both are the IHS surrounded by a crown of thorns. The bases have lovely scalloped patterns in them. On the inside bottom stem is stamped"E1303" this is a model number and they both match. They are also both stamped with an ink stamp that says"lacquered" but I'm not sure if they are. Never seen that before. The bottle is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or scratches. There is some wrinkling on the label, but that happened when the label was first applied. Willett Copyright 1919 dated 1937 This hymnal has been prepared in response to a deeply felt need for a collection of hymns adequately interpreting modern Christian faith and experience. It is the belief of the editors that Christian worship in our day is lacking in vitality. And that one of the reasons for this is the absence of reality in the hymns the people are asked to sing. On one hand, many churches are singing hymns whose forms of literary expression belong to an earlier age, whose imagery it is difficult for our generation to grasp or to invest with meaning. The tunes are narrowly conventional and often monotonous. On the other hand, many congregations in their endeavor to inject life into the singing have been persuaded to adopt a type of song poetically ... moreinferior if not vulgar, and musically hollow or thin. These churches find it necessary to resort to various artificial devices in order to keep the service of song stimulated. The degree of impoverishment suffered by both these classes of churches only he knows who is acquainted with the rich treasures of praise and aspiration scattered like grains of gold through the whole range of Christian hymnody. In the hope of bringing together the most fitting of these treasures, and of adding thereto some whose hymnodic character has been hitherto unregarded, the present work was undertaken. In approaching our task we have sought to avoid the impracticalities of a merely academic point of view. It is our belief that in spite of a certain deplorable influence upon the ideals of divine worship wrought by the crudities and sentimentalism of many so-called gospel hymns, there is real value in the modern movement that has produced them, and we have not hesitated to include a number of the best of these hymns in this collection. A very old and ornate copper clad brass censer This is basically an incense burner suspended from chains which is used during many Christian worship service. Burners are also used in the celebration of many other spiritual and ceremonial services They are also employed in the practice of ceremonial magic I believe this to be fairly old It's made of brass metal which is clad with copper It has been well used but I see no damage except for wearing of the copper.
