C1890 MEIJI PERIOD PURE SILVER TEAPOTS MASTER-CRAFTSMAN & STUDENT RARE NR
For your consideration is this magnificent Japanese Pure Silver. Ivory Handle and Apple Green Jade Teapots. I had several collectors and antique auction houses look at the pieces and they stated the touch marks date the piece to the Meiji Period, probably around the late 1800s. The experts didn't know for sure, but one thought the larger teapot with ivory handle may have been the work of a master craftsman and the smaller teapot may have been done by an apprentice. The larger teapot has an ivory handle that measures roughly 1 3/4" in length. The Ivory handle is less than 5% of the overall teapot. The top of each teapot has a Green Apple Jade Finial, which I was told are rare types of jade. The larger teapot has an ingraved design of a figural tree branch with flowers and leaves. In this design are two flowers and the center of the ... moreflowers have a touch of inlay yellow gold. It is a very small area. I tried to show all the touch marks on both pieces in images 7, 10, 11, 12. Both pieces weigh a total of 302 grams, again based on the touch marks the silver content is consider to be pure silver for that time period. The tiny teapot measures approximately 3" tall by 4 1/4" across the widest points. The larger teapot measures 4" tall by 5" wide across the widest area. This is a very unique set and I feel are unique& pretty rare. If someone can read the other touch marks and would like to inform me, I would be appreciative of the additional information. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 1782 Pair English Sterling Silver Bright Cut Teapots Presented is an old pair of sterling silver teapots made in England during the late 18th century. The bodies of the matching teapots are covered in gorgeous. Great quality bright cut decorations. There are flourishing swags of flowers and leaves as well as bands of lovely flower and zigzag designs. There are two superb quality crests on each piece, really as good as it gets. One has a chevron in the middle dividing a single lioness' or leopard's head underneath and a pair of smaller, matching heads above; the other crest depicts the head of a lioness or leopard with a dagger in its smiling mouth. One of the teapots was originally a lock and key sugar box or tea caddy. It was converted into a teapot with the ... moreaddition of a spout. Wooden handle. The work is superb quality and except for a few telltale details it would be impossible to know that this piece was never a teapot. The converted sugar box or tea caddy has a superb quality invisible hinge on the side of the pot instead of at the end near the handle. The keyhole has been plugged but a little of the outline is still visible. The two pins that once held the lock in place are also visible. On the interior to latch, which enters the lock, is still present. However from the exterior these pieces are a perfect match. They are both made by the same maker at the same time. Both are 224 years old. A very talented silversmith might be able to convert one of the teapots back to its original sugar box form, although they would have to be very talented. The underside of each is marked with the crowned leopard's head for London. The lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter g for the year 1782 and a maker's mark JD for John Denzilow. Wow! Don't miss the opportunity to own this great collection of five Salada Tea vintage teapots. These teapots were made by McCoy Pottery during the 1920s. Making them about 90 years old. Some of these colors are very hard to come by. Includes dark green, cobalt blue, pink, and seafoam green in the style with ribbed band around top of teapot and a white teapot in another body style. All teapots have lids with the signature"S" design and are marked on the bottoms. VINTAGE ANTIQUE CROCHET EDGING FOR TABLECLOTH 25" SQUARE TEAPOTS CUPS SUGARBOWLS
This is a very unusual and pretty vintage edging for a small tablecloth. All handmade in crochet. It features motifs connected with teatime: teapots, cups and saucers, jugs, sugarbowls and at each corner sugar tongs and two teaspoons! I don't think it has ever been attached to a cloth and is in almost perfect condition, there is a tiny bit of damage at the edge of one end where the join will be. This can be easily remedied by taking the join back one row when sewing the two edges together. Otherwise no holes or stains or wear at all. The inside measurements of the edging are 25" x 25" and the edging is just over 3.5" deep. I have not washed or pressed this item and it is an off white colour.
