I purchased this at the estate sale of an elderly priest. He had been in Rome for a few years and I purchased a few items he had from there including a couple of beautiful rosaries. This stole is a light ivory white on one side and a beautiful lavender purple on the other. It looks more blue in my photos and I don't know why: It is purple. Not blue. True Vintage Catholic Priest Deacon Black Velvet Dalmatic.Vestment, Robe. Beautiful black velvet with hand embroidery intricate design in lavenders, purples, beige, gray, and real silver threads. Lined in lavender satin, all hand done. The Catholic Church used the black velvet before the 1970's and you do not see it worn today. This is a wonderful robe. Such intricate hand work in the embroidery design and high end thread used. Measures 24 inches tall. 30 inches across, the sleeve is 20 inches across and tall. Very excellent condition for age. No stains, missing threads and no smells etc. My pictures make it look washed out but the colors are beautiful with no fading. Here is a full sized priest's liturgy book for the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. Headquartered in Johnstown, Pa. It is in very good, used condition with a heavy plastic ring binding, heavy card-stock red covers(front and back) and a protective plastic covering. It contains the text of the three liturgies of the Orthodox church(St. John, St. Gregory, St. Basil) the priest's prayers, and various movable parts, prayers, and intercessions. This 202 page book opens flat, and shows no major signs of wear. Research shows that these have not been edited since 1994, and are still in use in this Orthodox jurisdiction.
