Up for auction is a rose colored Low Mass Vestment Set for Laetare Sunday in Lent and Gaudete Sunday in Advent. I'm not sure of the age or country of origin. But this set is in very good condition. No obvious stains, tears or other wear. The set includes a chasuble(decorated with violet and gold orphrey and an embroiled flower on the back) stole, maniple, chalice veil and burse. This is for a Priest Vestments Chasuble stole that is vintage. Made in the 1960's for a local Catholic clergy that closed many years ago. This piece is in wonderful pristine condition. It features the deep purple on the front with the green and purple print in high relief. The reverse is cream colored with brown pink and yellow print in high relief! The provenance, which has been handed down verbally from generation to generation, is that they are from Ireland, and belonged to an Irish Catholic priest in the 1800's. They were apparently removed from the stoles or robes that he wore, and kept by the family, who immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's, and I purchased them from that family. Vintage ministers robe. Vestment. Minor fraying around the neck where the stitching has come loose. Also, a few stitches have come loose at the bottom of the zipper seem. A little needle and thread would put it back into tiptop shape, but already functional and great-looking as it is. All the velvet/velour. Stitched on crosses, and fabric is in great shape. Lying flat it measures 28 inches across the chest(56) 19 inches across the ribbed shoulders, and 25 inches down the sleeves. Overall length top to bottom is about 57 inches. This is for a big guy. Such intricate hand work in the embroidery design and high end thread used. Measures 24 inches tall. 30 inches across, the sleeve is 20 inches across and tall. Very excellent condition for age. No stains, missing threads and no smells etc. My pictures make it look washed out but the colors are beautiful with no fading. It is made of a red silk damask weave brocade fabric with a woven floral pattern. Colorful chain stitch embroidery work done in a floral fancy rococo design and gold metallic lamé trim edging, creating a cross on the back. This religious Catholic priests vestment chasuble has a loose fitting poncho style with open sides and is fully lined. The chasuble measures 37 inches long and 26 inches wide. It is in good as-is condition, with a few frayed splits and mended repairs on the silk(see close-up) This is truly a wonderful antique religious textile!
