Jan. 30. 17. 1917) AO 1/10 12 KGF SPRING" AO ="American Optical" The lenses fold together and snap tight. A spring loaded catch is released by a button to uncouple the lenses. It operates good as new. The delicate chain has a neck loop and is marked"STERLING" on the fastener. The pence nez is in very good condition for the age. Nothing has been cleaned. I think the pence nez is sized for a woman, way too small for my manly beezer. The optics are probably useful for somebodies vision. Or they can be replaced. I wish I could weigh the 10K gold by itself. The total item weight is 23.1 grams. I estimate about 6 grams of 10K gold.

The magnification power is very slight. According to the personalized case. They belonged to Mrs Edwin Gilbert. A great-grandmother on my in-laws' side. They were bought at a store in Rochester. NY. Research indicates fairly well that the store at the location given on the case opened in 1917. Family lore says it was bought by 1930 at the latest. I tested the chain for silver content. I’m not 100% confident with the results but I believe the chain is nickel-silver. Not silver. These reading glasses are in very good condition. 2 Pair Antique Vintage Pince Nez Eye Glasses Spectacles with Original Case!
These are a really cool set of antique Pince Nez Glasses from the early 1900's. What's even cooler is that they still have part of the old stamp of the location it was from in the back. It was from a major Cowboy Town. Tuscon Arizona! When I look at them I can just picture an old banker, store keeper, or doctor wearing these things. Who knows, they could have belonged to someone famous. There are two pair in the case. One has a missing nose piece. Both have chips on the outer rip of the glass. The outside of the case is peeling but still attached in the back. I don't know the metal, there are no labels anywhere. The spectacle part measures about 1.5" in diameter. Description: This is an antique pair of pince nez spectacles/ eye glasses in their original case and sold by Wall& Ochs Chestnut St. Philadelphia, PA. These were passed down in my family, who lived in Greensburg, PA. On the back of one of both of the nose pieces is printed"Pat. Jan. 29. 84" On one side of the bottom of the nose bridge is printed"14K" meaning 14 karat gold) and on the other end is printe the word"Watch" P Eye glasses are made with a high quality glass.P Weight and Measurements: Eye glasses and frame weigh just 0.4 ounces(10g) In their case they weigh 1.8 ounces(55g) I do not have any determination of the actual weight of the gold frame without the glasses- your guess is as good as mine. Eye glasses measure just about 4" inches(10cm) across(horizontally) and 1- 1 1/2" inches(2.5-3.8cm) ... morefrom top to bottom(vertically) The case measures about 4 1/4" inches(10.8cm) horizontally by 1 3/4" vertically(4.5cm) And is only about 1/2" inches(1.3cm) in depth. Antique pair of spectacles/eye glasses in the frameless Pince-Nez Style from the late 1800's and early 1900's in good condition! They have the hardbridge and the pinchers or clasps still work. Oval shaped lenses. The lenses are in great condition for their age. I dont really see any scratches on them. This was an estate find and they came in what is likely the original case. The glasses are 4 inches wide. There are some letters stamped on the inside of the bridge but they are hard to make out. It appears to say: CF Shipley Cn9. This is probably who made the glasses. Here is some info on this style of glasses from the internet: Pince-nez Eyeglasses have no arms. They clip on to the nose. Thus the name Pince-nez which in French means– pincer, to pinch, and nez, nose. Pince-nez reached their peak popularity around 1885 and were popular ... moreuntil around 1920. During their prime, Pince-nez accounted for over two thirds of all eyeglasses worn in the US. They were so popular that the name eyeglasses referred specifically to Pince-nez; spectacles meant frames with ear pieces. There are two basic types of Pince-Nez, The C bridge and The hard Bridge. The general difference between the 2 is that the C bridge has a flexible bridge that presses down on the nose while the hard bridge is not flexible and is held in place by two spring loaded pads that clip on to the nose. Pince-nez started to fall out of favor to a large degree in the 1920s and haven't been manufactured since. The case is worn but the original velvet interior material is still in there. It is not attached on the top side of the case. It appears the case is likely made of metal with some kind of black covering that is wearing off on the edges. The back of it is stamped: DRS CROWDER& AHLERS. Eye. Ear, Nose and Throat. Sherman. Texas. DESCRIPTION: Most of the photos are below. DISPLAY PIECES NOT INCLUDED. This is a wonderful. Small, antique, lot of mostly gold filled eyeglasses parts or entire pieces. The majority of these pieces are broken. Flawed, incomplete, or damaged in some way. However, they are all very old and sometimes the damage is minimal. The case is also included, and it is in fair to good condition. The long glasses chain attached to a folding pince nez pair is in good vintage condition(not perfect) As is the hair pin and chain, attached to another pince nez pair. 5 out of 6 glasses parts/pieces/frames are marked. 6 are really marked. A few eyeglasses have very small chips in the lenses. The frames without lenses are totally broken and incomplete. I have no idea what the extent of damage is to the folding glasses. In fact, I've had them a long time and just discovered that they folded. A portion of this lot is certainly salvageable. However. Overall it is meant as a scrap or possibly repair type lot. I did clean the glass a bit so flaws would be more visible. Again. 3 display pieces are NOT included but the eyeglasses case is. The case was recently acquired with a couple of the pince nez pairs. There is no brand name engraved on the nose bridge, but the frame metal parts are 14K white gold. These were passed down in my family. Ive had them professionally tested to ensure they are in fact gold. I am attaching a very interesting history of this brand of eye glasses that I think to be my item for auction. The face of it has a tear about 1 ½” long in the faux leather covering plus some smaller sporadic scuffs. Fortunately. I am not sure what the nose pieces are made of(could be mother of pearl) but they are intact and moveable. The rims of the glasses nice floral design. They are silver colored and not tarnished. One side of the glasses shown in pic#4 had a place where you could attach a chain which would then attach to your clothing. So that if the glasses fell they would not be lost. Antique SHUR-ON PINCE NEZ Glasses - Original Case DESCHLERS Sacramento CA-Shuron
Offered for sale is an antique Shur[On Pince Nez in their original Case from Deschler's in Sacramento. CA(Deschler's had a store in San Francisco and one is Sacramento) These come in their Original Case with a great Art Deco metal DESCHELR'S on the front of the case, the inside has a somehwat ornate metal copper label which reads"Deschler's Opticians, 1013 NINTH S. Sacramento" and an RX number which has been impressed into the metal, it is faint but can be made out. The Pince Nex measures 4-1/4, each lense is 1-3/4" x 1-1/2" The Bridge is a decorated silver metal, the inside is marked SHUR ON. They are in very good overal condition, the spring loaded nose pads are complete with a nice spring; the fabric on Case shows wear, the Metal on the inside and outside of the Case is in good antique condition. Up for bid is a new old stock pair of pince nez eyeglasses from early 1900's. No lenses were ever made for these pince nez frames. Since they have never been used. They are in near mint condition with no damage or repairs. They are in excellent working order, opening and closing as designed and grip the nose securely when worn. The cork nose pads are in excellent condition. Most pince nez eyeglasses from this period show significant wear of the cork pads due to use. The silver tone metal eye wire is made of a light-weight non-magnetic material and the C bridge is made of steel. The frame shows no visible tarnish to the naked eye. However, a small amount of tarnish can be seen with magnification. The spectacles are quite small but are standard size for this time period measuring 3 3/4 inches across the front. The oval eye wires measure ... more37mm x 28mm. These spectacles are suitable for prescription lenses or non-prescription sunglass lenses. I tested the screws with an optical screw driver and they are in good working order. An optician should have no problem fabricating lenses for this pair of antique eyeglasses. Of course. Antique Vintage Pince Nez Reading Glasses with chain
This auction is for an antique pair of Pince Nez eye glasses with chain. They are marked"Pat. Jan. 30' 17" and"1/10 12 KGF" on the under side of the bridge. The nose pieces are a triangular shape metal. The top of the bridge and the outside of the rims are ornately engraved. But so small is doesn't show in the pictures. The chain is about 32" long and has 14 tiny pearl beads on it. They are in overall good condition. The glass has very few scratches. One rim has a slight break which shows on the left rim in picture 6. It is very small and does not effect the stability of the lens. Please see all pictures. And please email any questions. 1800s Pince Nez Glasses Antique Spring Folding Eyeglasses with Original Case!
Pince Nez These great looking little eyeglasses are in their original leather pouch that fit nicely into a pocket or bag. The pouch measures 2 1/2" across the top and 3" top to bottom. Inside the glasses fold up to lie flat and unfold to fit across your nose. There is a decorative loop on one side where a chain can be attached. The glasses are gold filled and in very good condition. The lenses are clear with a very few very light scratches This is a great vintage piece.
