This large two foot tall sign was attached vertically next to(we may assume) the front door of Mrs. Luft's boarding house/dressmaker's shop. This item is from an estate auction in the Utica region of New York State. I bought the sign in the late 80's/early 90's and have no other information about Mrs. Luft. The sign maker, or sign age. Note in photos 5. 6, and 7 that water collected on the bottom trim sill. Causing water stains. I did a thumbnail test and found no rot. There are two threaded screw holes where the sign attached to the home. Although there is abundant chipping and pockmarking of paint. The lettering is still very legible. It's a fancier script than many businesses would use and enhances the unique sign shape. All lettering was done by hand- brush marks show, notice the differences between repeated letters- ... moreno stencils for this sign. Dimensions: Overall 23-1/4" tall. 13-1/8" wide, 2-1/2" thick. While I have no idea where they came from and why they were in the barn. I do know they are h ard to find and Vintage Chic and REALLY Neat! No cleaning to either of these wonderful pieces has been done. They are untouched and are listed"as found" so as to not lose any of their amazing old patina and charm- not to mention paint! Antique Wooden Wood Victorian Era Shutters Good Old Green Paint 4 Pairs 67 x 15"
This auction is for local pick-up only and features 4 pairs of antique wooden shutters. Each shutter measures approx. 67 ½ x 15 ¼ inches. There is a slight variance in width because one of the pair is the inner shutter and has a more pronounced“lip” to allow the outer shutter to rest in the fold. These are all matched pairs and are structurally sound. There are no missing slats. And the frames are solid with no fear of them falling apart. Of course, these have several layers of good old paint, and the paint of course has flaked in a few areas. No dry-rot, no holes. Each has hardware both on the top and the bottom, and we have pictured one of each to show you what it looks like. If you need any other measurements, please let us know. These are pick-up only. Description You are bidding on a Set of 2 Decorative Fish! Fish each measure approx 9 1/2" long x 1 3/4" tall at the tallest! Both fish are made of wood. Painted, and then rubbed down for a really neat rustic look! I do not know if they are handmade or not, they are not completely identical so they might be. Each fish have a hole on one side near the gill, probably so they can be hung on a hook or on the wall. Antique Wood Wall Shelf Display, 2 Tier Sage Green Paint Cottage Vintage Shabby
Here is a sweet shelf to display something special. It is 17" high. 21" across, and 6" deep. The space between the shelves is a bit over 8" so you could display something up to 8" tall there. The top shelf is 5" deep and the bottom shelf is 6" deep. The sides have a pretty, curving shape. There are two metal eyes attached to the back so that you can easily hang this(see photo 5. It is a nice weight and solid and in excellent condition with nothing wrong at all. Very good vintage condition with nice paint which appears to have a satin or eggshell finish. The shelf is probably made of mahogany but was painted this pale blue-green sage. This is the kind of shelf that was made around the 1930s-1950s. It will really go in any style of room at all. Primitive Wood Carving Whale 19th Century original paint Maritime antique
Hello- This is either a whale or large fish- I think it is a whale because it has harpoon marks on its body- 2 red painted circles(see photo 4) It is primitively carved- and a dowel has been used to create texture all over the body. There is a light varnish on it- and the paint is original and under the varnish. The red paint is also in the grooves used to create the gills and the fins. It is also in the mouth. Some sort of black tar is used for the eyes. the area has been scooped then filled with it) It is 13 1/4" long and 4" high. The pole extends from the fish and fits into the base- not fastened. Being a whale would put it in the Northeast US and it looks like it has some age. So I would guess late 1800's to early 1900's. Please email with any questions.

Antique Wood Wall Shelf Display, Deep Aqua Turquoise Paint Traditional Vintage
Here is a sweet little shelf to display something special. It is 5.5" high. 18.75" across, and 5.5" deep. The brakcets are ornately cut with a pretty, curving shape. There are two metal hooks attached to the back so that you can easily hang this(see photo 3. It is a nice weight and solid and in excellent condition with nothing wrong at all. Very good vintage condition with new paint. This is the hottest color in all the decorating magazines now, often shown with flowers and other accessories in a deep hot pink. The shelf is made of mahogany but its finish was ruined so it was painted this deep and vibrant turquoise. This is the kind of shelf that was made around the 1930s-1950s. It will really go in any style of room at all. And is just so useful almost anywhere you need a little storage or display. Wonderful and Early Wood Horse Weathervane in Original Paint
Rare solid wood 19th C New England homemade horse weathervane. He's stunning but sadly his back leg broke off somewhere along his life. He still retains quite a bit of his original white paint which shows appropriate wear. He may be from the early 20th century. Hard to say for sure but his construction indicates he's quite early. I've taken numerous pictures to give a complete sense of him. Would describe his actual weight as medium heaviness. The thickness of his body(1 1/2" is an indicator of his quality. If not for the broken leg. Though I think he would be well worth professional restoration of that leg. He measures 21" long by 18" tall. All original hardware still on him. Beautiful antique Victorian Eastlake hand painted gold accented shadow box frame. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With some wear from age to the frame. It has some slight nicks, but no big chips. Very nice piece. There is a chip to the wood piece that holds the pictures in place, it won't be seen when it is in use. Great estate find! Wonderful vintage/antique Guatemalan wooden slingshot in the form of a bird. Slingshots are still used as weapons by rural farmers to kill birds and other small animals that attack their crops. Up for auction is a folk art. Hand made toy sailboat. The boat itself appears to be made of oak, looking at the grain of the wood on the side of the boat.The boat weighs 14.2 oz, and only being app. 10" L X 2 1/2" W@ the widest point X 141/2" T also points to oak construction.The mast is app. 13" tall and has been hand whittled to somewhat of a point on the top. The sail is about 3 5/8" at the bottom and tapers to a point in about 10" The sail is fastened to the mast simply by running pieces of wire through holes drilled in the sail. Twisting the wire, then feeding it through holes drilled in the mast. This leaves exposed sharp wire ends, and would never be allowed in today's toy market,with our government protecting us from ourselves, but was perfectly acceptable years ago. The body of the boat is painted/ ... morestained a flat blue color with some minor wear.The cabin/wheelhouse is formed by 1/2 of a wood dowel and is painted-stained brown. The mast is another whittled wood dowel. And the sail itself is of an unknown wood material. Sail is white with around 13 black squares offset in two rows,squares painted on one side only. I can only imagine a father during the depression.No job,no money, desperately wanting his child to have a toy, and fabricating this sailboat out of material, tools, and knowledge available. It is not often you get a matching pair of these door stops that match so well so I am listing them as a set. They are 3 1/4" long with out the mounting screw and 1 1/2" in diameter. Just drill a small hole in your baseboard and turn it in and you're ready to go. It has old gray milk paint that has brush marks. A few chips and wear spots. An Exceptional Value Repurposed Rustic Country Barn Cabinet/ Cupboard This cabinet came fron an inside wall of a pre Civil War Barn. In the Catskill Mountains. It is made from an old wood paint crate and a piece of tin that were white washed and red barn painted. The old wood crate is from the Devoe and Raynolds Paint and Varnish Products Co. There are 3 round Trade Mark seals on the box sides. The seals depict a squating Native American Indian with a feather in his headband. The round Seal says ~"Devoe and Raynolds- Founded 1754- The First American Paint Maker" The corners of the box are all 1/8" dovetails with 22 mortise cuts per corner. AFRICAN MASK- Man with CARVED Feathered Headdress This sale is for an exotic African Mask. This piece is handcarved and painted and done beautifully! It is quite large measuring 23" high x 10.25" wide. This Mask was carved from one solid piece of wood which has a veRy red color to it which can be seen on the back of the mask. I do not know from which part of Africa this comes from. The feathered headdress is quite lovely and has been painted in a graduated manner with the feathers getting darker nearer the ends- much like a real feather would. A wire hanger is on the back and the piece is in very good condition. Quite heavy so will need a sturdy wall hanger.
