Today we are proud to present for your consideration this 14k gold Etruscan Revival Watch Chain that dates approximately 1850-1880 and is most likely American in origin. The links on this chain display the tiny wire and bead motif consistent with the Etruscan Revival of the 19th century when this ancient method of goldsmith technology was rediscovered and popularized. Many of these pieces were melted down for various reasons. Yet this chain survives. This chain has a solid hand clutching a baton, and the baton acts as a hinge so you can see the hand move up and down. The hand is quite realistic, with details including fingernails and tendons on the back of the hand with a black enamel detail on the sleeve and button. The only imperfections are a few scratches on the rose gold clasp, which is the only part with rose gold, and originally this ... moreclasp held a men's rose gold pocket watch. Probably these tiny scratches were from removing the watch every now and then for service, but the clasp is still 100% functional. This is an outstanding example of Etruscan Revival gold jewelry.
