This amazing Rosary is done in Ivory and Sterling Silver Beads. Created in the Byzantine style of rosaries used by monks of the San Juan de la Pena monastery. This Rosary necklace is an Antique sterling silver piece with amazing light blue almost tear drop shaped crystals. I'm not sure what this shape is called since I have never seen it before. It comes to a pointed tear drop at one end but the top is flat. They are faceted so they catch the light exquisitely. There's a total of 59 beads, see last pic with the date 1830 imprinted under the virgin. There is some normal wear from age, but once cleaned properly I'm sure it will look like new! This Amazing Huge Lot contains 92 items. There are three items Marked Sterling. One of them is the Virgin Mary and marked HAYWARD STERLING on the bottom. The other two sterling items can be seen on the scale with the Hayward one. The total weight of the Sterling medals is.17 oz. There are 7 rosaries that are intact, 2 of them are glow in the dark and one of the two glows a unique lavender color rather than a greenish glow. There is a white rosary marked ITALY. A beautiful white glass rosary is also marked ITALY and is broken but just needs to have the beads reattached as it's in 3 pieces but all the beads are there. There are 6 rosaries that are broken and are either missing a few beads or missing a crucifix or both but the beads are in very good shape and some are glass beads. One has Pink Pearly beads with what looks like Pink Mother ... moreof Pearl on the crucifix and is pretty old. One broken rosary says SILVER TAXCO and weighs 1/2 oz. There is one black Rosary that is broken but has it's Black wood, maybe ebony Crucifix marked France on the back. French antique rosary circa 1870-1880. From estate if a French Archbishop. I will provide the archbishops name to the new owner. This rosary is just beautiful! The beads are not too small for older fingers. just the perfect size. The beads measure 8 mm and made from beautiful authentic mother of pearl. The beads are oblong in shape, and literally glide through your fingers. 18 inches long. Chain and all metal parts are sterling silver. I have been told that the shell this mother of pearl beads comes from is no longer harvested because it is an endangered species.
