Santo Domingo Pueblo New Mexico 3.5" Black Red Color Vase
Santo Domingo Pueblo small 3.5" vase of red& black colors with Santo Dominto Pueblo N. Mex. on the bottom and an additional marking which could be a signature of some type. But I could not find what it was or meant. The vase is in relative good condition and also has a marking of what looks like 9.65 on the bottom also not sure if this was a price or what this refers to. His Atlas General was published over a 20 year period and contained extremely attractive maps with detailed cartouche titles. The Paris publishers. Crepy, took over much of Le Rouge's stock and re-issued his maps in 1767 under the distinctly erroneous title'Atlas Nouveau' and this fine map, La Bretagne' is from that issue. This map of the island of Hispaniola or Santo Domingo in the Caribbean shows its political division with the Franch section(now Haiti) in green and the Spanish section(now the Dominican Republic) in red. Classic Santo Domingo Four Strand Multi-Stone Treasure Necklace by Reano
The treasure necklace is 34" long and has a 4" extender. The stones and shell are every shape and size and all are separated by penn shell heishi. On one strand there is a green turtle done in either agate or adventurine. On another strand is a heartline bear. There are square pieces. Donut shapes, freeform and barrel shapes to name a few. Each piece would have been polished and drilled. The tips are a bent shape to go around the neckline easier. They are marked as sterling. There is a silver tag marked with"Reano" on both sides and also a small turquoise bead at the tip. This is Joe Reano's signature on a piece. The clasps and cones are not silver. None of the turtles are cracked/chipped/broken. One of the dark beads has a tiny chip on the edge and is hard to notice. This is an exceptionally fine triple strand of natural turquoise heishi beads with strerling fittings. Vintage Santo Domingo Pueblo, turquoise appears to be Royston mine. The beads are immaculately polished and matched very hard to find these thin heishi turquoise beads. Overall condition is good one of the top rectangular turquoise beads is cracked in half. The necklace is 20 inches long and the three tiers are 1.25 inches wide when put together but wider when they are layed out as meant to be worn. I always recommending restringing vintage necklaces. Older dbl strand Santo Domingo Beads olivella shell heishi on thread Carved
Up for auction is an early Santo Domingo/Kewa bead necklace. Old and beautiful with a tendancy towards rustica. it is a double and graduated strand 22" long with a weight of 1/2. ounce of a digital scale prior to packing. Most all the shell and stone components look to be hand-drilled with the tapered holes and the whole is threaded onto some type of twisted(white to golden toned) natural fiber string; the closure consists of a hand built 8-shaped bolt end and j-hook clasp. The main portion is of fine gauge olivella shell heishi; there is a number of short tubular beads of coral and turquoise along with'nugget' type beads of coral. There is a pair of disc cut beads and a single saucer shaped one of turquoise. Along the bottom strand are six(6) carved'fetishes' These are simple in their shape: point-y at either end with ... moreflat bellies. Filed crenate outer edges and plug style eyes. Also the strand has the smallest silver beads I've seen, kind of donut shape, only 7 of these. One is found at the bolt end and the remainder are interspersed along the longer strand, utilized as accents either side of two of the carvings and the piece of coral placed at center. This piece was sourced at a local antique faire here in Northern CA other than this I have no specific history on these beads. They are shown in the final images with other beads I am offering on eBay, or will be shortly. This auction is only for the double strand as it is shown in the Gallery Photo. Vintage Santo Domingo Shell, Turquoise & Coral Necklace - Double Strand - SALE!
SALE- for this week only- reduced to $168.00 from original ebay price of $190. A different take on a fetish necklace. This necklace is very unusual- I've never seen anything like it. It is most likely vintage(bought at auction where they called it vintage) with shell birds and fish on double strands. Each fish or bird has an inlaid jet eye. And has been intricately carved so that the heads and necks are purely light coral colored shell and the backs are beautifully patterned shell. The carving is incredible! The necklace has heishi in the back and spaced throughout between pieces of turquoise and natural coral. The bottom of both strands has 5 bigger turquoise pieces. This is a magnificent vintage Santo Domingo very old and absolutely incredible necklace containing amazing cylindar shaped corals that rest between outstanding white hand cut shells. Resting at the bottom of the piece is a fabulous two stranded Blue Gem turquoise stone jacla pendant. The jacla consists of circular and disc shaped corals and pink shell. This necklace consists of an exquisite traditional silver clasp with two accenting silver cones. Notice the natural patina on the silver.
