This auction is for an 18th or 19th c. chasuble panel loaded with gold metallic couching embroidery. There is an urn with wheat. Vines, both floral and grapes. Would be perfect for reworking into a pillow. The panel is quite large, 22" wide at the bottom, by 27" long, 17.5" wide at the top. Quite large and multiple areas for reworking. Antique Green Vestment Chasuble (w/ stole, maniple, burse, chalice veil)
Offered for auction is an antique green Roman chasuble set from a vestment collection with chasuble. Stole, maniple,and burse. It needs to be sold quickly hence the low price for the Buy-It-Now. Overall condition is good antique(see below, and pics) The embroidery is blue and that gives the overall color but the base fabric when you look at it is green. The ophreys are beautifully embroidered. Label indicates that it was made in France. Apologies for the poor quality of the photos. And please feel free to ask for more or any other details. Please note the following before bidding or buying this item: 1) The INNER lining of the back of the chasuble is faded– some minor fading can also be seen along the outer bottom of the back of the vestment as well(it appears a little silvery in the second photo- this is NOT the band that appears across ... morethe vestment in the first photo. Which is due to the light) Please look well at the photos. 2) There is very minor damage around the cross on the burse– it is noticeable if one looks closely. I have not tried to clean it for fear of damaging the vestment. But my guess it is that it could be. 3) The"tapes"ribbons to fasten the chasuble around the waist. And the maniple around the arm are old and probably need replacing. Offered for auction is a chasuble with matching stole. Veil and maniple. This chasuble is part of a set– please see my other listing for the other matching items(cope, dalmatic, etc. This set consists of red and blue'velvet' or similar material- sorry. Not an expert in this) on a base red damask fabric(the camera light makes it appear orange in places but it is red) The ophreys of blue have been overlaid with gold cutwork with several rhinestones along the cutwork length to highlight the details. The effect is very rich. It is offered for auction with no reserve. The low starting price and Buy-It-Now is because the item needs to be sold. It has barely any wear.
