Jesus The Last Supper Wood Framed w Glass Picture Antique Vintage Disciple Names
I got this at an estate sale and the elderly man that was selling it said it was in the attic of his Great Great Grandmothers house when they cleaned it out recently. He does not know its age or original origin- but said it is very old. The glass covered picture measures about 27" across by about 22 1/2" high. The frame is wood painted gold- frame has a small piece missing on one inner edge about 2" in length and has a chip out of one corner. And right side edge has some surface damage from what I do not know. This frame is very ornate for its age- gold paint is spotted and faded from age. Along the bottom of the table cloth on the picture the disciples are listed by name spelled: Bartholomaus, Jacobus, Andreas, Judas, Petrus, Joannes, Jesus Christus, Thomas, Jacobus, Phillippus, Matthaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon. Not sure what language ... morethat is written in- but that is how it is spelled on the picture. Please ask any questions before bidding. OLD Lourdes Framed Color Picture Antique La Basilique et Les Piscines 17"
Truly antique framed color picture of Lourdes's Rosary Basilica and adjacent pools. Or in the French on the photo: Lourdes- La Basilique et Les Piscines. From an estate, but I couldn't find out anything about its history. It had to have been stored for decades in an attic; the wood frame and glass are very very dirty and I haven't tried to clean it. However, the photo inside looks clean and the colors are still vibrant. I haven't taken the backing out of the frame but it is loose enough on one side to give enough access for me to tell that the picture is similar to postcard material, and it seems to have been glued on the backing. The paper material covering the back is very tanned and very brittle, however the backing card seems to be in good condition, still stiff and rather thick. Total length of frame is 17 3/4" by ... more8 3/4" the picture's actual dimensions are 15 1/4" by 5 7/8" I don't see a date or indeed any writing on it at all besides the legend at top left(Lourdes. but my guess for a date would be 1890s-1910s. The only flaws I see on the picture are the two slight wrinkles and single tanned spot, all in the area around the words in the upper left corner. All the other spots in the photos are on the glass. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING OR ASK ME ANYTHING: I get most of these items from estate sales. Please assume that cats and dogs have smoked 10.000 cigarettes and have eaten gluten-coated peanuts and snorted ragweed pollen in a house heated by a wood-burning stove while wearing/using these items- and bid accordingly or NOT AT ALL. This is an antique church print. I would say from the 60's at the latest. Not sure though. It Definitely has some patina on the frame. Most of the paint is peeled off the bottom portion of the frame. Glass is in good shape. The print itself has one little tear but not really noticeable from a few feet away. It really spoke to me when I saw it at an estate sale. But my daughter says it has to go. I mounted a good strong wire to the back to hang it with. It has cardboard on the back. It had like a paper cover over that. But it was all peeling away, so I tried to peel it all off.
