Victorian era black forest bear umbrella stand carved at famous Brienz factory!!
Offering a Victorian era carved bear umbrella stand made if the famous factory of Brienz. The bear does have some issues as seen from photos. There is a crack on the face and eye was replaced. There are several age cracks around on the bear that have been there for many years but the overall condition is stable and still is a very attractive piece! Most all of the bears of this period has age cracks due to shrinkage of the wood over the years. Study photos carefully. Bear is heavy and I am paying for shipping, at ups. I have enjoyed this bear for several years and now it is time to move on and give it a new home.

Hello and thank you for your interest in my auction. This listing is for the exquisite hand carved Black Forest bear bookends seen in the photos. These are quite heavy pieces and have very detailed workmanship. The teeth and tongues are remarkable. The eyes are glass or beads. the paint on the tongue and claws is still vibrant. There is great detail in the fur around the neck and chin. The ears and noses are not broken. The bears are dusty but I didn't want to clean them for fear of ruining the patina. The classic edges of the wood shout old world Black Forest. The dovetailed joints are fantastic. The screws used to hold the bear in place from the bottom are slotted screws as opposed to Phillips head. Approximately: one weighs 1 pound 3.5 ounces. The complete figurine is very finely hand carved. It was conceived as a vide-poches but is multi-functional. E.g. the extended arms are suitable for holding a thread spool. Unfortunately the bear must have had an accident in its youth so that the left foot needed an operation- but it wasn't an excellent doctor so that the fracture has not merged absolutely. Apart from this fault- which hardly can be recognized and is shown greatly enlarged in the last pictures- it is in very good used condition for the high age. Up for auction is One Unique Vintage German Black Forest Style Carved Wooden Bear Rocking Horse. This Rocking Bear is a doll size rocker. It measures 12" tall to the top of the saddle. The overall length is about 23" and the width is 8" wide. It has a primitive German style painting on the saddle and glass eyes. This Bear is definitely hand carved and hand painted wood. I have seen this bear one other time and the carving of that one was slightly different, making it one of a kind. All that said, I have no idea exactly where this bear is from. It could be German, Scandinavian, or from some other eastern European country. Condition is excellent. All nails are tight, all the body parts are nice and tight, and all slats in the rocker are tight. This would be a great addition to any doll or miniature collection or bear collection.

Represented by a walking bears on a rocky outcrops and chamois horns below for hanging“whips” I don’t believe these hooks are entirely old. The bears clearly are old(somewhere from the early 1900s) But the rocky outcrops with chamois horns appear not to be and were probably created in an effort to give the 2 bears something to do(rather than just sitting them on a table top, turn them into hooks! The bears have friendly faces, are in good condition, rich highlight colors, no missing ears or feet, nice glass eyes, and real chamois horns(no splits or broken tips) A few condition issues to note: the right nostril on the left facing bear is a bit worn(see pic) the left ear of the right facing bear has a chip; I can see evidence ... moreof reglues on a couple of feet; and there is a slight color difference between the bears(being old) and the bases(being not as old) But all-in-all, in spite of this old/new merger, they are really cool and very functional– they hung my house for years holding dog leashes. Black Forest Bear Carved Wood Hat Rack Hook I got this in the mid-80s in Dallas. Texas. It's from my private collection and I really don't know much about it, except that it's carved wood and appears similar to many other Black Forest categorized items on eBay. It is old, but I don't know when it was made. Piece measures about 16 3/4" wide. About 13" tall and about 5" deep, which includes the hooks that protrude the most. Weight is about 1 pound, 10 ounces. I have repaired two of the hook tips at the lower right of the piece when viewed from the front and the right protruding hook tip. It also looks like the forward facing hook on the left has lost its tip and it is possible that the lowest hook tip has also been lost. But it looks like old damage if it was lost. I added some green felt to the parts that touch ... morethe wall when hung-up. I am not a professional or expert regarding this item. I've described as best as my knowledge allows. Up For Auction! A stunning two tone wood Black Forest figural bear desk set! I have had a number of these but they have always been one color. This one is stunning with the different colors of wood. The highly detailed bear has tiny black glass eyes and his mouth has been painted red. The kiebe on his back can hold paper clips. The center tree stump is done in two colors and contains the inkwell. Note the top of the stump is done in light wood. While the opening for the inkwell is further down the stump. Unfortunately this did not have the ink pot when I acquired this 25 years ago. The right tree stump can hold other small items. The wooden pencil the bear is holding is hand carved and original to the set. It does not contain lead. The bear letter opener is wonderful and completes this set. This lovely box strays from the heavier theme of Black Forest carved items as though it was specifically made for a ladies dressing table to be used for jewelry. The box does have a lock mechanism and although I have owned this for over thirty years. I acquired it without a key. The bear measures 4 inches long. The overall length of the box is 7 inches by 4 inches deep by 5 inches high. Please note the pictures of the screw heads used to put the bottom and legs together. The screw heads are only 2cm wide. There are no nails used! The hand engraved tulip motif adorns the top and front of the box while a floral leaf is engraved on the end panels. Even the back of the box features two engraved star bursts. The inside compartments contain the original blue velvet material and the ... morebottoms of the two top compartments are padded.
