I have seen a few like this, but not many. This is a very unusual structure for printer's drawers. Wooden frame is thick wood. You can take out the thin metal shelves. But most are quite tight, and you may have to really tug to get them out. With a little effort, you can re-arrange them. Some are missing on the one end. No name that I can see. Please view all pictures. CONDITION: Overall. Very good. Strong, Sturdy, all sides secure, some wear, as this was used for its intended purpose, many years ago. This has a brass#23 on the one side and looks to be a brass handle but not sure. The face looks to be well stained with printer ink. Good solid piece. There are some small finishing nails you can see from the back. I think someone did some work on this at some point. Possibly new back panel. Has both a wire to hang and upper corner brackets. Front edge has a metal handle embossed HAMILTON and a cut away section in the wood with an original tag describing what font style and size type had been in the drawer. Vintage Antique Wooden Printer Drawer-Block Letterpress Type Set -E J Thompson
This is an old wooden drawer that held printer blocks. It has a metal handle and a metal strip on each side. I could not find any maker name but the metal strips on the sides say"Patent No. 2255949" I looked up the patent number and it shows an illustration of the drawer. It was filed June 24. 1941 by E.J. Thompson. The drawer is in good condition with no cracks that I can see. There is rust on the metal handle and ink stains on the wood from use. The drawer has 89 compartments and measures approximately 32" by 16 3/4" by 1 1/4" See pictures and email with any questions. Shipping is calculated based on your location.
