This great little box is in good clean condition with a few scuff marks and includes two sealed sets of separating tab cards- one blue alphabetcial tabs and one vanilla with different tab placements. Pretty old Shaw Walker file box with metal slide that functions perfectly. I have been unable to find another one like it. The name Shaw Walker is perfect. I show in the last picture a scuffed up corner that is hard to see as it must have been stained over at some point. I guess it could have been done when made but doubt it. This is a vintage antique oak"Shaw-Walker" wooden file or recipe box. This is an earlier production box with the harder to find side mounted hinge bars(most of these boxes I have seen have the more modern hinges mounted on the rear of the box) The gilded lettering is in fantastic condition. Please see the close up photos and compare to other boxes of this type. The dovetail construction is in excellent condition with all corners very tight. Globe Wernicke Vintage Oak Wood Recipe Card File Box Peerless 7310C Made in USA
Offered is a vintage filing box from Globe Wernicke. Cincinnati Ohio. The box is a medium colored oak and measures 10" long, 5 1/2" wide and is 4 1/2" tall. It has a metal base with the sliding card holder. It is in good shape with the usual nicks and dings- normal for something this old. There are some labels from the previous owners, I am sure they can be removed, but I will leave it to the new owner. The corners are dovetailed, one corner appears to be loose, but on close inspection, it looks like it came from the factory that way. There is a crack the length of the lid, this is from age and drying out, the crack goes through the paper labels. In all, it is a great classy box with all the right patina. Useful and attractive old oak box. 5 ¾’ x 3 ¼” and 4 ¼” tall, with mortised corners and the original brass hinges. Vintage DOVETAIL OAK WOOD "HEDBERG CO" RECIPE / FILE BOX
Up for your consideration is a terrific vintage wooden box for recipes or file cards. Made of oak. It holds 4 x 6 index cards and the actual outside dimensions are 6 3/4 inches by 5 inches by 3 3/4 inches. It was made by the Harry C. Hedberg Company in Illinois. The box has it's original finish and there is no grime on it anywhere. It is very solid with dove-tail jointing on the sides. The clasps in the back are strong and tight. There are some very faint scratches on one of the sides-you cannot see them unless you hold the box at just the right angle in the light. There is a very very small area where it looks like there was a slight flaw in the wood where the box opening meets the side-it does not feel like a chip, it is more that a bit too much wood was sanded off on that one little piece. The color is really nice and the top has no ... morescratches, dings, marks etc. The inside is very clean-you can see glue marks around the base and there is a dribble of glue on along the inside bottom that is clear. The box opens and shuts cleanly and tightly. It is solid and heavy. Please look at all of the pictures and enlarge them to look at all the details as these are the best descriptors of the box. The box is dove tailed 5 5/8” wide, 3 1/4” deep and 4 1/4" high. There is a decal on the front that says“recipes, that is not fully intact. This box is chock full of handwritten recipes, some with comments. Included are such recipes as Divinity Loaf, Date Bars, Krazy Kake, and Macaroon Tart. The box is in very good condition with no cracks or chips or scratches. Important Information I am in the process of selling objects which I have collected over many years of attending estate auctions. Vintage Oak Single Drawer File Cabinet Box Library Recipe
10 1/4" X 7 1/4" X 15" deep. Perfect small size vintage oak file cabinet. Cabinet is well built with solid oak& dovetail joints. Very slight separation in the butt joints in a couple of spots. As found original finish showing more wear on the top than the sides. 7/8" circle of lighter color area where a tag or I.D. of some sort was mounted with 2 small brads or tacks on the upper left side corner. Retains original metal(copper? file tightener which slides on a copper rod. Also retains 2 metal file dividers(aluminum) with title slots& 2 old heavy paper file dividers. Overall very nice condition oak or tiger oak finish on this well built 14lb file box. Sorry. I could not find any makers I.D.

This is a nice old file box or recipe box for 3 by 5 inch index cards. This antique box is marked'Globe' on the front and has Globe Wernicke on the'A' index card inside. It is 5 1/2 inches wide. 4 inches tall, and 3 inches from front to back. The inside of the lid has RO/150 handwritten in pencil. There are some receipts from the year 1938 and 1939 inside( butter.30. Sugar.28, 3 gallons of gas.57! etc. The lid closes flush!There is one dark spot on the right bottom side which will probably clean up easily, but I'll leave that up to the buyer(see pic. The box opens and closes easily. This box has attractive box joints or finger joints and a pretty grain pattern across the front. Up for auction is a vintage oak wood index card box or recipe box recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It features factory finger joint dove tail construction. It has its original a- z index tabs. A bit bent with signs of acidic paper, the acid and age appear almost 40s, possibly 30s. Wonderful country kitchen accessory or great for anyone who uses index cards for organization. Perfectly fits an index card or recipe card. Great old box. The top crack looks like it is along the seam, the bottom crack is not- possible candidate for repair. Looks like it may have been refinished at some point in the past, golden oak. With a stain on the bottom an paint splotches on one side corner, easy removal. Wonderful box that could be repurposed without any cards. Best of luck in bidding. This is a vintage oak Recipe or File Box with the following in gold with black outline on the front: S HAW-W ALKER CHICAGO MUSKEGON NEW YORK. Box is dovetailed and in good. Vintage condition. The only thing I found wrong with it is the pins holding the hinges in the back in place are missing; someone put a piece of wire back there instead in each of the hinges. There's a piece of Dymo tape in woodgrain to match the box on the top with REFERENCE FILE on it; that is probably an add on. Box is 5 3/4 wide x 3 1/2" deep x 4" tall. Inside dimensions are 5 1/8 x 3 x 3 high at the back and 2 1/4" high at the front.

Antique Wood Shaw-Walker Oak Recipe file, Original label, hand written recipes
Up for your consideration is a very old recipe box made by Shaw Walker. The box is made of oak with dove-tailed joinery and an old-fashioned side hinge and back hinges. It is approximately 4 1/4 x 6 3/4 x 5" The front in lettered in gold and black with the name Shaw-Walker and under that Chicago-Muskegon-New York. Inside the lid is the original label that calls it a"Jogger for Cooking Recipe" and a picture of the cards which are the exact cards used for writing down the recipes in the file. The box is in very sturdy condition-no looseness of any of the joints or hinges. The lid stays open the way it should and does not wobble. There is some wear of the lettering on the front and the box does need to be cleaned-I will leave it up to the buyer to do the cleaning. It is in its original condition-not refinished in any way. There ... moreis some slight wear in the area the side hinge goes up and down on the box. There are no cracks or splits-the box is actually in very good condition for its age. There is a full set of tabbed recipe dividers in the box that appear to be an older variety since they include a section for game. The recipes are mostly hand-written. Some in pencil, some in fountain pen and regular ink. They have been well used, some of the pencil ones have blurred, there are multiple spills on many of those in the cake section, there are some that are on a smaller recipe card than the 4 x 6 cards that came with the set. Included in the front of the box were several sets of brochure/pamphlet-type recipe items. The Certo one is dated 1932, the Alber Oats is out of Seattle Washington and has no date, the Jury Selected Recipes is dated 1930 and the Art Modern from Red Rock Cheese appears to be from the 1930's. There are about 50 recipes in the box(not including the ones in the brochures) and there are about 15 of the original blank unused recipe cards in the back of the box. ANTIQUE GLOBE WERNICKE OAK WOOD DESK FILE BOX WITH PARTIAL ORIGINAL LOGO LABEL This is a nice oak wood desk top card file box complete with a full complement of cards. It was recently found in a central Virginia estate and measures 6-1/2" wide x 5" tall x 3-5/8" deep. The inside measurements make it ideal for 3 x 5 inch file cards. It features the original finish. Rabbet joints on all corners, and remnants of the original GLOBE WERNICKE logo on the front. The cards contain a good bibliography of Bridge playing references typed on the back of THE AMATEUR SCIENTIST OF AMERICA MEMBERSHIP DATA CARDS. On the inside of the box.
