Antique 1851 "Golden Manual" Guide To Catholic Devotion
This auction is for a beautiful rare antique"Golden Manual" a guide to Catholic devotion book. It has Mary on the front and is covered in purple velvet with gold colored medal trim. The pages have gold trim as well. It comes in a case made to look like a book. The case is broken. The book is dated on the inside from 1851. There are personal marks in the book as well. A husband gave it to his wife in September of 1852 in San Francisco California. The book has wear due to it's old age. It appears that the spine was repaired at some point. Relic Reliquary TRUE CROSS of JESUS CHRIST Roman Catholic Bishop Relic - Bible
This is a relic of the True Cross. Vraixe Croix. It measures 1 1/2" long. Including the bale, and 1 1/8" wide. On the front is written SANCTUS CRUCE DOMINUS JESUS CHRISTE, Latin for Holy Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ The wax seal and threads are perfect. On the back in black ink is written 326 and 1923. 1923 is the year. And 326 is an identification number. This rare relic comes from the estate of a French Archbishop. Who had an extensive relic collection. The family requested that his name, Diocese/city NOT be made public, although I will give this information to the relic's new custodian, along with a short biography. These Vintage/Antique Catholic Altar Candle Holders measure 12 1/2 inches to the bottom of the candle holder and 14 inches overall height. They have been in our home for 40 years but did come from a Catholic Church originally. They are unpolished and not lacquered! They have a nice patina. Vintage Linen Cloth Holy Face Jesus Effigy Religious Roman Catholic Artifact. Interesting piece of cloth or linen of some sort with a holy face effigy of Jesus Christ. From what I can find these were made by the Vatican and sold if indeed this is a real one from the Vatican. The cloth would have touched the Veil of Veronica. The wood of the true cross, and the iron of the spear if a real piece. The linen piece has a black circular stamped seal of some sort can make out: Archalis Basilica Vaticana inside the circle is an“M” looking letter with a challis on top. The piece was in a plain wood and glass frame when found small stain in bottom left corner when looking at the picture. Some foxing browning to the cloth and a few wrinkles but otherwise nice condition religious artifact. Unsure of age foxing leads me to believe not new certainly. I ... moretried finding it at one of the websites with the effigies but could not locate this exact one. Below the face of Christ it says: VERA EFFIGIES SACRI VULTUS D. N. JESU CHRISTI. Rare Gold Filled Catholic Standing Cross Relic Reliquary Photo Frame Up for bid is a very rare circa 1860-1910 Catholic standing reliquary(or photo frame) It is 14 1/2" tall. 6" wide, 3 1/2" deep, it has a weight of 2 Lbs. It has been acid tested to be between 1/10 and 1/20 pure gold fill, not plated brass, this standing reliquary is worth around $800 in scrap gold weight alone, not to mention how rare this little treasure is to find. It is in amazing condition for its age, it is not cracked or broken in any way, it does show its age with patina but that only adds character. It was found with this Victorian Virgin Marry collage, but you could put any photograph in the round frame that measures 2 3/4" tall and 2 1/4" wide. Rare Antique German Crucifix with a compartment inside with the Names of Saints set over Gilt Colored Panels. The bottom of the piece has a turn style screw that secures the lid. The interior has the names of many saints. I've never seen such a beautiful Crucifix. Christ hangs from the cross with the name plate above Him, His hands are secured by nails and His feet are on a platform secured by a nail. The piece measures 4" tall and the cross is 1 3/4"wide. This Catholic relic or reliquary is an Ex Ossibus- bone relic- of Saint John Neumann. Who is the first American Bishop to be canonized as a Catholic Saint. This gorgeous little reliquary is perfect for a collector of Catholic items, as well as would be a unique piece. DESCRIPTION: This reliquary measures about 1 inch in diameter at the circle. With additional four points that extend out along the border. Lovely border design in a gold tone metal around a glass cover. Inside, on a bed of red silk is a small typed scoll that reads: Ex. Oss.
