An impressive and wonderful Pair of'Renaissance Revival Period' Sculpture/ Candle Sticks with Winged Beautiful Women. Lions Heads, Scroll Work, Acanthus Leaves, Flora and Claw Feet. The character of these Period Pieces are more than amazing and the detail is just beautiful. I just pulled this amazing Set of Bronzes out of a box of great antiques that were left to me and they came out of a major Art& Antique Collection. These Sculptures/ Candle Sticks have a wonderful patina, great design and perspective, impresssive detail and features. They are in excellent condition and are more Sculpture than Candle Sticks. This wonderful Bronze Set was probably executed between 1860 to 1890, during the Renaissance Revival Period and I'm sure were not inexpensive when originally purchased. The Nuts that are on the bottom are irregular in ... moreshape and show rust around the screw and washer, but the pieces are amazingly sturdy and very much intact. I can't find a signature anywhere. But it's clear that it was done by a Master's hand. This beautiful Set measures 14 inches tall and from clawed foot to foot they measure 5 1/2 inches. Everyone who has walked into my home has admired and commented on them; they are more beautiful than the photos can possibly show(especially being that I'm not a great photographer) These would make a beautiful addition to any Art Nouveau Home, Victorian/Edwardian Home, actually any beautiful Home or any Art and Antique Collection. Or it could be a bit later. Dimensions: approx 4 by 2 3/4ths inches. The metal is thin and light and believed to be stamped brass. Metal is not magnetic. The actual match holder box has a highly ornate design. The box is heavier than the thin frame styled body. Possibly bronze? It stands as though it was a frame. Striker portion in the middle. Condition: Some wear on striker portion. Base has the remnants of some light felt to protect fine furniture. Piece has not been shined and still has a lovely patina. RENAISSANCE REVIVAL RARE 19th C. VICTORIAN BRONZE/ BRASS JEWELRY CASKET w/CAMEOS
An impressive and beautiful 19th Century'Renaissance Revival Brass/Bronze Jewelry Casket' with 4 great Porcelain Cameos of with portraits of women and men. Amazing Renaissance detail in the metal work that's applied and also maintains Acanthus Leaves in the Scrolled Feet. The Cameos are all different and there is one on each side, held in a detailed bezel with wonderful Aesthetic Movement Design Elements surrounding each one. The dynamics of this Period Piece are more than amazing and the detail is just wonderful. I just pulled this beautiful Jewelry Casket out of a box of great antiques that were left to me and came out of a major family Art& Antique Collection. This Renaissance Revival Casket has great design and perspective, impressive detail and wonderful features(such as the beautiful Cameos, which are gold gilded litho-transfers ... moreand not hand painted) This wonderful Antique Jewelry Casket was made between 1860 to 1890, during the Renaissance Revival Period and shows it's Renaissance influence as well as it's Aesthetic Movement design features. This beautiful Casket lost it's bottom plate sometime in the past and it was replaced by an acrylic bottom that was glued in and could be easily removed and replaced by a metal one if one chose; the lid opens and closes very well and is secure, though it is missing the Cameo that was set in it(I think it should be fairly easy to replace with either another Cameo or a Stone being the bezel is intact) it was polished years ago and still has some great patina around it's detail- otherwise it's in very good condition. I can't find a makers mark anywhere. But it's clear that it was done by a Master's hand and it may have been on the bottom. This beautiful Piece measures 4 15/16 inches by 4 3/16 inches from the front clawed foot to the back clawed foot and 3 7/16 inches tall; the top Cameo opening is 1 5/8 inches in diameter. Outstanding Renaissance Revival Ebonized and Gilded Wall Pocket
Offered for auction is this outstanding. Very three dimensional Renaissance Revival ebonized and gilded wall pocket. It is walnut and retains most of the original ebonizing and gilding in the incised carving. It does not appear to have been retouched to me, but refer to the photos and judge for yourself. This is a commanding piece. the chain appears to be a replacement and it appears that at one time there was leather or fabric at the side as there are tack holes there. This piece measure approximately 23" by 14" Applied carvings give it a very three dimensional quality. The back has an outward bow that is consistent from top to bottom so I am unsure if this was originally this way or bowed over time. A couple of old repairs that are stable(see photos) and one chip off one of the lower carvings, but nothing that really detracts ... morefrom the overall presence of the piece. Just a really great find in very good overall condition. A very reasonable reserve on this piece. Please refer to the photographs as they are an important part of the overall description. TRANSITIONAL RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARD TABLE WITH BRONZE MOUNTS AND BANDING* ORIGINAL FINISH IN NICE CONDITION* A very nice card table with original ebonized finish and bronzed mounts. The table retains it's original blue felt.In nice condition for its age. There are are some worn spots as shown in the pictures.Not too much that replacement would be advised. The table.When placed against the wall measures approximately 37" wide and 18 1/4" as a radius dimension.The table is 31 1/4" tall.When the card table is in use,by flipping over the top leaf and swinging out the center leg,the table is 36 1/2" in diameter. The table could be attributed to Pottier and Stymus.As indicated by some of the turning and bronze mounts and typical edge banding as seen of many of their pieces. There is one small bronze mounting on the side ... moreof the center support large turned leg.Which is missing.Some loss to finish is present and there are some minor scuffs and nicks.There is a fairly deep small area on the top surface which exhibits deeper scuffing and finish loss. The piece has beautiful carvings and mounts with much of its original fold gilt within the incised lines in tact. The front of the table has a nicely carved wood drawer with compartments for cards and or chips. A high styled Victorian piece of furniture which will be a great asset to any collection.
