A new design was required for the reverse and it was decided to proceed by way of a competition open to members of the general public. The winning artist. Bruce Rushin, an art teacher from Norfolk, based his design on a series of concentric circles telling the story, through symbolic devices, of technological development from the Iron Age to the Industrial Revolution and from the Computer Age to the Internet. The reverse of the coin depicts the profile of the Mary Rose ship complete with banners and streamers. The outer ring includes the surrounding inscription bearing the ship’s famous name in Tudor script. This lot has 7+ pieces of vintage sterling silver flatware knives. Plus one handle with blade removed-it is sold as scrap with this lot. The ones included in this auction are: 2 Towle Candlelight knives that are about 9 1/2" 3 International Silver Wild Rose pattern that are a bit over 9" in length. 2 Antique Towle German knives that are in the Mary Chilton pattern 9 7/8" in length. These old knives to have the Old French or Bolster style like blade. They are marked Towle Mfg. Co. Germany on the very edge of the blade& on the handle marked: Sterling with a old hallmark. These are the only ones that are monogrammed of the knives. I can not make it out. It is very ornate. I apologize that I could not get a more close up picture of it. Very neat elegant antique knives. The knife that has had the handle removed is sold as scrap. ... moreIt looks like the Lyric pattern. All of these pieces are all marked Sterling. They appear to be in good vintage condition. 14K ROSE GOLD HARDSTONE CAMEO+PEARLS BROOCH PENDANT~MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS~SIGNED This is the third piece of a collection of incredible cameos I have to offer this week. It is solid 14k rose gold. From the estate of a woman who had discerning taste in cameos.if you are a collector, please check my other listings as well-I have a few of her other pieces listed. I certainly hope these photos beg in to do this justice. After scrutinizing this carving carefully. We have come to the conclusion that this is a"not so typical" carving of Mary Queen of Scots. This is evidenced from the ruffled collar(not quite as high as is customary) and from the cross around her neck-her cross is an important symbol, as she is often depicted with it in her hand as well(she always wore a cross, which she was forced to remove immediately before her execution) ... moreAnyway. You can view the fabulous, intricate detail in this cameo. Mary is depicted as a beautiful woman, with an up-do, a hat with flowers, and drop earrings. Some cameos are so"generic" but this one is much more portrait-like. The artist has signed his initials, GXO" on the back of the cameo. He was most likely a leftie. As the cameo faces left- the majority of cameos are carved by right-handed carvers. And face right. Th e functionality of this piece is two-fold. It can be worn as a brooch or a pendant. Using the hidden, fold-down swivel bail. I've shown it on a chain in the photos-CHAIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION. The frame is heavy. Solid 14k rose gold, with bead work around the bezel, and a border of lustrous, fine quality, all original seed pearls. The came o brooch/pendant measures 1 3/4top to bottom by 1 1/4" side to side. It weighs 20.1 grams. If there's anything I have not addressed for you. Please feel free to ask. This is a fine collector's piece for the serious cameo collector-the quality of which is not often seen on eBay. Don't pass it up! THIS IS ONE-OF-A-KIND! 1953 POSTCARD SIGNED BY"IKE" EISENHOWER This was sent to my Grandfather. The Postcard is of"Harvey's Famous Resaurant" in the Mayflower Hotel. 1107 Connecticut ave. N.W. Washington, D.C. Established in 1858. It has a 2 cent stamp on it and is Post Marked Washington, D.C. June 8, 1953. It reads as follows: Dear Frank- Washington needs you- The first signature under that message is: Ike" I think the writing in the message looks to be the same as the"Ike" signature. I am. By NO means, an expert in signatures, let me know your thoughts on this. The other signatures are that of: Pat(Patrick) Hillings who was a Republican U.S. Representative from California who succeeded Richard Nixon once he was elected to the Senate. Hillings held that seat from January 3. 1951 to January 3, 1959. ... moreHe was a good friend of my Grandfather's, who was his campaign manager early in Hillings' political career. Rose Mary Woods who was President Nixon's personal secretary. The same position she held from the time he hired her in 1951 until the end of his lengthy political career. Fiercely loyal to Nixon. Woods claimed responsibility in a 1974 grand jury testimony for inadvertently erasing up to five minutes of the 18 1/2 minute gap in a June 20, 1972, audio tape. Her demonstration of how this might have occurred– which depended upon her stretching to simultaneously press controls several feet apart(what the press dubbed the"Rose Mary Stretch" was met with skepticism from those who believed the erasures, from whatever source, to be deliberate. Pair ROSE MARY AND WILLIAM, DAVIDSON Glass Hobnail Hearts Decorate Sweet Bowls
Pair of matching beautiful antique hobnail glass with heart design by Davidson the design was registered 1903. These bowls were made in a rare rose glass between 1928-1931. Genuine antique from house clearance. They came out a box that hadn't been opened for decades. Both look brand new and are in excellent condition. The colour changes from coral pink to peach to baby pink depending on the light. The design is called Mary and William by ameriacan collectors after the English regents and 1st cousins after Mary's father and Williams uncle fled in 1689. Mary died 1694 and William remained unmarried until his death 1702 the couple where childless. I have listed these at a low start price with no reserve.

Here are three souvenirs or items from the Mary Rose. First is a newspaper type booklet. It is in nice shape with minor wear. It has yellowed a bit due to age. There is some edge and corner wear. There are tiny rips on the edges in some spots. The top and bottom right corners have some creasing. This is dated 1982. Next is a paperknife. Which I am assuming is a letter opener. It is silverplated and has tarnished a bit. It will need a cleaning. There is some glue residue on the back. It comes in a case that has a paper with some info about the Mary Rose. About Mary Rose: Mary Rose was a Tudor warship marking the transition between Elizabethan galleons and the mighty"ships of the line" Built between 1509 and 1511. Her carvel(smooth-planked) construction of oak and elm was advanced and strong for the time and permitted the cutting of cannon ports in the hull sides, so that she was one of the first ships able to fire a"broadside" a considerable factor in her success as a fighting ship. She had served for 34 years when, during an engagement with a French invasion in 1545, she heeled to an unexpected gust and started filling through her cannon ports. Mary Rose sank. Within half a mile of the shore, together with most of her crew(who could not swim) She then lay on the seabed for over 400 years until her discovery, buried in Solent mud, by Alexander McKee in the late 1960s. ... moreAs the site was excavated, it emerged that half the hull and much of the decking was relatively intact- and almost certainly the best preserved example of her type ever found.
