Greetings from the UK. How this turned up in England I can't imagine and you will doubtless know more about it than I do. It is made of a thin piece of lightweight wood which is wedge shaped. About 5/16th inch at the top to 1/10th at the bottom. Total height 14 and 1/4 inches. Width just under 4 and 3/4 inches. Could it be a table/menu marker? Certainly these guys knew how to eat. I love the references to who shot and cooked the game and well done to Abe Wall who captured the suckling pig and Dr Leach who killed it. The item is in reasonable condition for the age but please note a split which extends 3.5 inches from the base and the loss of a sliver of about 2.5 inches. The cost of air mail to North America is a reasonable US$ 10. I am starting at $10 which is less than it cost me so I am hoping someone will want it. It deserves to come ... morehome. It is noted that these characters are painted with avery visible symmetry: the two figures on the extreme left and right-hand side place a hand on the tomb. Those in the middle are sitting. And with their fingers indicate letters of the inscription. But it appears difficult to go beyond these initial observations? It was Henri de Lens who saw the correspondence between these characters and the constellations: the shepherdess ... moreon the right-hand side is the constellation Virgo. The shepherd on the shoulder of Virgo is without any possible doubt the constellation Bootes. Known as the“shepherd” One even took the care to paint him with a foot on a stone, which corresponds with the old representations of the Shepherd. Fay in 1885, the Fay Manufacturing Company produced bicycles and equipment to improve roads for bicycle use. In 1892, Garford renamed the business the Garford Manufacturing Company. Garford purchased the Dean Electric Company in 1914. Dean Electric had been engaged in the manufacture of telephones and telephone equipment. Under the Garford name it became one of the largest industrial establishments in Elyria, Ohio. Shortly after in 1916 it was purchased by Stromberg-Carlson.

INTERESTING SHABTI STYLE FIGURE - LARGE PIECE WITH HYROGLIFICS - DAMAGED
this looks like an interesting piece. I think its in the style of a shabti, but larger than most others ive seen as this measures about 23.5cm high, i would prefer viewing on this as i can be sure on age, it might be something from the grand tour made to copy an original famous shabti, or then it may be an ancient piece, but due to ebay policy on antiquities i will sell this as a copy as i have no documents or finders certificate to prove its originality, although my opinion is that it is a very ancient example, please enlarge all 12 photos and make your own mind up, it has a chunk missing from the back of the head, also if you look closely you can see lines mainly across the middle section, this looks like old damage where it has been broken and fixed back together, this should show across the chest area at the front and down below the waist ... morearea as it goes around the back, also on close inspection just above knee height it also looks to have been broken and repaired as fine line visible in places with nibbles missing. where the chunk is missing on back of his head it looks like a black stone, also his headpiece was probably more pointed but top section missing. someone had glued a small tatty stand to the base as this figure does not stand upright as it would be on a slope, and the small wedge that someone glued on has now come loose and seperated from the figure, but even when it was on it still didnt stand upright so a new stand is needed, they usually display best in one of the metal supports that pot dolls sometimes have. surely a rare and interesting piece worthy of further research. it came with lots more old and unusual items im listing. Antique Black Forest Book Rack - Extending - Folding - Book Ends
This is a Victorian Black Forest extending book rack from the late 19th century in excellent original condition. The hinges are tight. There is very little wear to the corners. It has acquired a gorgeous patina. Closed. The rack is 10.75" length; open 14.25" It's 5" deep and 4.25" high(the bear on pedestal portion is 3.75" The bears have their original glass eyes with no damage and are very finely carved. It came with the printed papers as seen, its a small piece as you can see the size at the side of a £1 coin, its about 2.5cm long, very simple looking piece, no idea what it would have been used for, it has a cutout on its head, so i guess it was probably fixed onto a chain or similar, hoop may be broken off as glass is shiny on each side of the cut out. also other possible faults and imperfections, still a rare piece, especially if the certificate is giving the correct date. it came with lots more frare and unusual pieces im listing.
