Size: 20" high. 13" wide,7" deep Weight- 9 pounds Here is a beautiful Victorian mirror that is all in original condition and paint. The whole mirror has a southern feel to it. From the 2 southern belles in long gowns to the persimmon tree that supports them. I'm not sure how the U.S. flag, the shield with the spears, or the monument with the olive branch fits in, but I'm sure they are significant. I have put a very reasonable reserve on this piece.

Offered are two Civil War Period tokens. One dated 1863. 1 has a cannon with"peace maker" at the top and bottom. On the reverse is a US Flag with 1863 at the bottom and"Stand by the Flag" across the top. the second coin has a drum with flags and the word"Union" stamped on a cannon barrel. The O and N of Union are worn. The reverse has"Our Navy" in the middel of a wreath. This corner has the damage to the rim/border to the right of the y in Navy. I am a paper and photo person, coins are not something I usually have. I am offering these without reserve.

Original Revolutionary War Period Sword
Very nice original sword cut down to a short sword or large belt knife. Made from a Pre Revolutionary War Period German Briquet sword. Probably dates to the 1760s t0 the 1770s. Measures over all 19" with a 14 1/2" blabe. Grip is made from two pieces brazed together which was the earlier casting method for hollow cast pieces. The seam is so well done that it is hard to see. But it is there. Guard has been removed in the period of use. Shown in Moore's"Weapons of the American Revolution" I believe the saying means"to god and my country" in English. Sold as is. Very nice original Revolutionary War period hunting horn. Engraved with the name W. BERRY on it. Has a turned spout. There is a small hole drilled in the side. I'm not sure if this is for changing the sound or not. A large horn measuring approximately 17" long following the curve. Very nice condition. I have a note inside that says found in Virginia. Antique greeting cards with soldiers in a Boar War Era from 1180 to 1902. There are 11 various cards. All of them have a New Years greeting somewhere on the card. All cards are old and some are damaged to some degree. These pictures have been around for over 100 years and they instill a feeling through their theme of those colonial days where the British empire was present on the continent of Africa. There are several with sailors on their ships, some have guard duty as the theme, some have leisure times as the theme. Some have theme of romance and some political suggestions of the Irish question and the African situation with hints of these matters. This is an original Civil War period tarred leather leggings. They are held together with a pewter hook and a hook and button. The tarred leather was designed for waterproofing. They measure 16" tall are are missing the heel belts. The edges are a little brittle and the seams on one side is separating. Still. These are ultra-rare in any condition. I found a couple photos of Civil War period Zouave soldiers on page 35 in the latest issue of Military Images Magazine. They are wearing similar leather leggings. Primarily over control of Korea. To distinguish from the second Sino-Japanese War. This war is called"Jiawu War" in Chinese because it occurred in the Chinese year by that name. Korea(under the Joseon Dynasty) had traditionally been a tributary state to China. In 1875 the Qing Dynasty of China had allowed Japan to recognise Korea as an independent state. However China continued to try to assert influence over Korea. And public opinion in Korea split. With conservatives wanting to retain a close relationship with China while reformists wanted Korea to ... moremodernize and to have a closer relationship with Japan. Following the assassination of a pro-Japanese reformist in 1894. A Korean religious sect, the Tonghak. Began the Tonghak Peasant Revolution. The Korean government requested from China help in suppressing it. However. When China did contribute assistance, the Japanese government sent an expedition in support of the reformists, and had seized the royal palace in Seoul by June 8. 1894. War between Japan and China was officially declared on August 1, 1894, though some naval fighting had already taken place. The more modern Japanese army defeated the Chinese in a series of battles around Seoul and Pyongyang. Forcing them north, and by November 21 the Japanese had taken Port Arthur(now known as Lushun) The Japanese navy mauled China's northern fleet off the mouth of the Yalu River at the Battle of Yalu on September 17. 1894. I first listed it as 1902 pattern Army given the infantry badge and sewn on collar block letter US emblems. Not so- there was no Army tunic with the wide and beautiful Gold cuff adornment. Member 1972 r anger pointed out this was Rear Admiral rank designation, and the 1902 and even earlier tunics were virtually indistinguishable. I followed his useful lead and found other documentation that- indeed– this appears to be a Navy garment of Rear Admiral Rank. Problem. The sew- on Navy undress tunic should have had stars on the collar befitting such high Navy Rank… US block letters were not used on Navy tunics. Well. This“ US“could have been sewn on in the 19 t or early 20 th Century by an uninformed previous owner. ... moreI Still have a problem with the Navy tunic notion however– all turn of the century Rear Admiral cuff adornment I have researched also had a gold star embroidered above the gold bands. Engraved by T.W. Jolly& R. Beatty by the Kings Patent(George III) Fig. 1 exhibits the steerage for the A gear type design and Figure 2. exhibits steerage for the B type gear. Two different examples on the same engraving used in that period. The engraving apparently came from a naval portfolio or book as three of the edges are gilded to protect damage from insect infestation. Two flats and one cove. This has a reverse cove and an outside flat molding, it is only a two-part frame, which is definitely different from most ogee mirrors. This was made by some rebel who wanted to go against the grain, and he certainly succeeded. This beauty features dark flame mahogany veneers. Most of these frames were molded then veneered, and most frames under the veneer were some sort of pine. This mirror appears to have the original looking glass, which is time-worn and boasts the great look of the silver being worn and missing. This gorgeous antique glass looks striking against a dark reddish brown frame, which still retains its original patina. This frame has been sanded down and re-sprayed to bring out the grains.
