Chinese Antique Table Screen Panel - Mother of Pearl Inlay - Fine - 19th Century
This is the central panel from a fine 19th century Chinese table screen. It no longer has the frame. It is finely inlaid with mother of pearl decorated with bats etc flying around a tree on a dark hardwood back. like rosewood or similar. There is a fair bit of the mother of pearl inlaid missing so it is sold as seen with no returns. Most the bits missing are on the tree section. Maybe it can be repaired or the good parts used for somthing else. Please look at the photos. Size- 36 cm by 52 cm Please ask any questions. Please see my other items. Believed to be in traditional"Coromandel, many layers of hand-painted colored lacquer with satiny black top layers built up, then designs are carved by hand into the colored layers below. This was done by a famous Chinese artist.his signature are on the edges of the panels.I do not read chinese so can't tell you his name. Both sides are serene scenes from nature in soft. Delicate shades. The main side tells a story with dragons, deities, landscapes, flora and fauna. The back side has the traditional Asian cranes and flora motif. Really an incredible work of art. This is a vintage item in wonderful condition. Age of the screen is from the early 19th century. This is a one of a kind beautiful piece. So much time and detail went into this piece! Has a tear in the front as pictured and a few tears to the back of the panel as well as some staining on the paper on one of the panels. I have for sale a vintage Chinese lacquer panel/ room divider. It has four panels. All of the images are hand carved and painted with meticulous detail. The front side has a scenery with geese. Plants, and rocks. It also has some Chinese writing. The background is gold leafed. The reverse has smaller birds on tree branches. The bottom of the screen is covered with brass. Three of the four original hinge pins are missing. Two are replaced with wire and one is replaced with a nail. Each of the panel is 16" wide. And 72" tall. They are 3/4" thick. This is a beautiful. Vintage 4 Panel Chinese Screen with MOP and Soapstone Inlay
This is a very nice black lacquered 4 panel Chinese screen that my parents bought in the mid to late 50's. The wood is black lacquer with fine detailed gold gilding throughout. The panel edges are gold gilded and the background screen of each panel is gold gilded. The hinges are brass. This item was shipped from Taiwan to the Panama Canal Zone. Then later to Oregon and finally to California. The front surface is inlaid with Mother of Pearl. Soapstone inlays, probably some jade also, that depicts an idyllic scene including a beautiful pagoda exquisite women, musical instruments and vases, etc. The back doesn't have any raised carvings. But does have a nice gold gilded painted design. There are a few knicks. Gouges and scratches on the back and top sides of the panels, with a few to the front side particularly along the sides, top and ... morebottom; the lacquer is crazed with age, but overall condition is really good. The panel foot brass covers are especially worn, torn or missing. When viewing please click on the magnifier so you can get a close up of everything. This pattern is Flying Red Head Cranes in Flight and a Pine Tree& Moon and a Rock Formation and Flowers at bottom. The Pine Tree spinach green Jade Foliage and Amber Jade/Agahte trunk, and a large Lavender Chrysanthemum and spinach jade for foliage. Colors are gorgeous thru out this piece, the Moon is Amber& Russet Jade. The Green Jade panel is 14 1/2 inches tall and 11 inches across, and the Wood frame is 10 inches tall and 12 1/8 inches across footed stand and 4 3/4 inches at base. I think the rock is carved jade, as to leaves, flowers and the panel board I have no idea what kinds of material to make of but I am sure they are not resin or plastic. In old day Chinese don’t have the skill and knowledge to use resin at that time. The piece is in excellent condition except with a half inches hairline on the panel at center as seen in the picture#11, it is very hard to notice when display. The panel is removable from the stand. Vintage Chinese Hand Painted 4 Panel Screen Ducks Bonsai Mountain Landscape
I found this at an estate in Los Angeles with many vintage art objects from China. Japan and Korea. I believe this is Chinese but could be wrong. I do know it is vintage hand painted on panels. Each panel measures approximately 15 by 35 inches. In vintage condition with fading, small blems, tears and imperfections. I am selling it the way I found it. Dust and all!

9th to EARLY 20th CENTURY CARVED 12 PANEL. EBONY COROMANDEL SCREEN with. beautiful scenes of the IMPERIAL palace centered by the EMPEROR surrounded by pavillions. Court dignitaries, MEMBERS OF THE COURT. Cavalry and charming pavillions with women and children strolling in gardens or at play. The reverse side of screen is carved with symbols of nature,delicate branches, gardens, birds perched on a branch or near a lake. Fruits, flowers.and utensils. Each panel on the very upper portion, has a carved landscape within a fan shape motif with gilt. Panels measures 8 1/2 feet HIGH and 19 1/2 inches wide. The screen measures 234 inches in length when displayed straight along a wall. Accordeon style.
