Fine Pair Antique Cut Glass Open Salts w/ Sterling Rims & Spoons; dips cellars
Up for bids is this fine pair of cut glass open salts in very good condition. They have sterling silver rims and come with their original matching pair of salt spoons. They are in very good condition and are just as we found them. A bit dirty and unpolished but they'll clean up nicely. The rims on the salt cellars are marked"STERLING" and have British hallmarks. The backs of the spoons are also marked"925 STERLING" The glass of the salts is beautiful, especially with natural light shining through all the cut facets. They have a few typical nicks and flecks but no major chips or other damage. Each salt is 1 1/8" high and about 1 7/8 inches at the widest point. The spoons are 2 1/2 inches long. Right out of an estate this past week, these salts and spoons sell to the highest bidder without reserve! Good luck!

Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 4 ENGLISH 1871 STERLING SILVER REPOUSSE SALTS CELLARS Presented is a fine 8 piece set of 4 English sterling silver open salt cellars and 4 sterling silver salt spoons. Each salt cellar is raised up on three Queen Anne style feet and decorated with hand chased. Repoussé flowers and leaves. The salt cellars have elegant beaded trim around the rim. The four salt spoons have a simple smooth finish design. The salt cellars are monogrammed with ET in block script. The salt cellars are hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver. The leopards head for London, the date letter q for 1871, Queen Victorias head, and a makers mark of HH for Henry Holland. They are also marked England. Three of the salt spoons are English. They are marked on the ... morereverse with the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham, the date letter c for 1902, a makers mark for Adie Brothers, and Made In England. The fourth salt spoon is American. It is marked on the reverse with the makers mark for Currier& Roby and Sterling. The condition is excellent. Nice Old Antique Set 4 Sterling Silver "Salts", Salt Cellars w/ Matching Spoons
Here's a nice set of four old or antique round footed salt cellars or"salts" that we received recently. The set came with 4 matching small spoons as we show in the pictures. These pieces are all marked sterling and have a three panel hallmark that is unknown to us. We're pretty sure these are from the late 1800's to early 1900's. In more recent years they have been in storage and have taken on a little tarnish. The salts are about 1 inch tall and 1.75 inches in diameter at the top rim. The spoons are about 2.125 inches long. No dents or damage of that type to note. Very nice. The 4 salts and 4 spoons are shown on the scale at 75.2 grams or 2.42 troy ounces for those who consider scrap value as part of their silver purchasing process. That's about it. You are looking at an unusual pair of vintage silerplated salt cellars with thin silverplated spoons and ceramic or porcelain inserts. The salt cellars measure about 1 3/4" high x 2 1/2" in diameter(rim of insert) They are in pretty good condition with some plate fade but no dings or dents that I can see. There are no markings on the silverplate but the inserts have a moon and star on the inside of the bowl and some sort of maker's mark on the bottom. All in all. A pretty neat pair!

2 Kirk Repousse Sterling Silver Salt Cellars& Salt Spoon 2 Cut Glass Salts. Pair of vintage open salts from S. Kirk& Son Sterling and have the number 58 on them. They each have 3 feet. Both are in very good condition though have spots in the bottom inside. I have not cleaned them so may polish nicely. These were used for salt with the addition of a glass salt that fits in the sterling one. Clever! The glass inserts feel like cut glass to me and both are in good condition though do have dings around the outside bottom edge. I do not know the maker of these. The silver salts measure 2 ¼” across the top and are almost 1 ½” tall. Also included in this lot is a Repousse pattern sterling silver salt spoon. It is marked S. Kirk sterling and is in perfect condition. It measures 2 3/8” long. Nice collection right here of 2 sterling ... moresilver and 2 cut glass open salts and a spoon. The salts are marked'sterling. The two spoons are also marked but it is Asian so I don't know what it says. The one spoon had a spot on it and it cleaned right off so I acid tested it for silver. They are 2 1/4" long and almost 1/2" wide. These spoons are different than the other four from the previous listing. All seem to be in good condition! I am pleased to offer a beautiful set of six antique salts. Salt CELLARS made by O& E.G. Royal Austria. These salts are absolutely stunning with the interior finish being a pearlized iridescent and a white outside with gold around the scalloped rim of the salts. Based upon the marking on the back of these salts. They were made between 1898 and 1918. The marking on the back of the salts was used by Oscar& Edgar Futherz of Altrolau, Bohemia(now Czech Republic) from 1898 to 1918. The company made some of the finest porcelain and exported both decorated& undecorated pieces. Three Victorian era open salts or"salt cellars" used at the dining room table before iodized salt. You would take a pinch of salt and break it up with your fingers and sprinkle on your food. Salt clumped from moisture then. They are 1-7/8 inches across and 3/4 inch tall. Bottom rims have chips. Some severe. I don't know how they chipped so much on bottoms, although some early glass had makers roughness and chips where they deemed not important. Pictures don't show up the chips much, so be aware. 6 Antique Sterling SILVER Dominick & Haff Open SALTS ~ 117 Grams~ 6 Salt Cellars
You are bidding on 6 Dominick and Haff open salts. They measure about 2 7/8 inches wide and ¾ of an inch deep. The six were pieced together between 1928 and 1931 using the Reed and Barton date code. There are marks indicating an Ax; an Acorn and a Torch. Each salt is of the same pattern but have 4 different weights. The total gross weight for the 6 is about 117 grams. They are marked on the bottoms with the following information: triangle circle oval with the letters D and H in the oval; Sterling; 4666/78. In the interior of each one is a single letter monogram. It is a guess on my part but I believe the letter is an Old English“R” DOMINICK& HAFF started manufacturing in New York as William Gale& Son in 1862. They were succeeded by William Gale Jr in 1866 followed by William Gale Jr& Co in 1867. By 1867 they were known as ... moreDominick& Corning. Gale& Corning came along in 1869 followed by Gale Dominick& Haff in 1870. By 1872 they were known as Dominick& Haff until they were purchased by Reed& Barton in 1928. The salts are 83 years old. Three of their bottoms and not perfectly flat. There are no dents that I can detect. There are no repairs or perforations. They nest well. They appear to have been recently cleaned but the buyer may wish to freshen the cleaning. Please study the pictures and feel free to ask questions.

For your consideration today is a charming set of 6 vintage porcelain salt dips or cellars. This set is hand painted and most of the individual salts are signed by the artist. At least one is stamped NIPPON on the back. Each little dish has a nut painted on the front plus there is a gold tone highlight all around the top rim. Vintage Crystal Glass Scalloped Edge Open Salts Salt Cellars Lot 2
Up for auction are these vintage crystal glass open salts. They are so lovely with a star pattern on the bottom and a scalloped edge. there are tiny glass bubbles inside of the glass. I felt around the rims and they had a roughness. More in one than the other. Some areas may be teeny tiny flea bites but very hard to tell as the glass may have been cut this way or again it is many little bites. This is not a noticeable thing when looking and does not take away from the appearance but I do want to be accurate. They are approx. 2 1/4" across and 1" tall. Two very cute open salts for any collection.
