Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty Porcelain Shard in Shadow Box
Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty underglaze blue and white porcelain shard depicting a deer framed in a silk lined shadow box. This shard was obtained in 1979 directly from local divers excavating in the Chao Phrya River. Near the ancient capital of Siam: Ayuddhya. It dates from the 1500's and represents early Chinese trade ware in Southeast Asia. The same potters in China later developed blue and white Cantonese and Nanking ware for export to Europe in 1700's and 1800's. But the bowl this shard represents is much more finely potted, indicating it was for the high end of the market. It measures 95 mm in diameter or nearly 4 inches. We have others available. WHOA! This is an extremely rare and exciting find! From very. Very old estate here in Houston that was not publicly advertised until after this was purchased. This estate was amazing-old money, old family with very,very high quality antiques. We didn't think about this piece, we just grabbed it as fast as we could! These were probably part of a set used on an alter of a temple. The only other candle sticks of this size and quality we have seen that also were made in sections are described as such-one pair is in the Victoria and Albert museum and the other pair sold for $288,839.35 USD at Woolley and Wallis. Those were blue and white and dated to the Qianlong Period but were the only others of this same size and construction. We love the remains of mutton fat on the top of this piece! What a wonderful thought to ponder.where this might ... morehave been and who might have gazed on it as the candle burned! Everything about it is perfect, from the elegant shape to the wonderful under glaze blue and over glaze enamels. The colors are fantastic! This is a very heavy piece. Ming Dynasty Wooden Mother of Peril Tray
This tray was acquired from the reminates of a estate sale and I was told the old folks traveled the world and brought something back from each trip. This was one of the items. The tray is a beitful wall hanger but has some peril pieced missing. And frame has come loose free one side. Can be repaired Im sure.

A RARE MING DYNASTY WANLI PERIOD WUCAI JARLET W/ UNUSUAL ANIMAL MOTIFS
This is a small bulbous jarlet decorated with stylized forms of animal motifs important to Chinese art and culture: the foo lion. The horse, the elephant and the water buffalo drawn apart by stylized waves. The decoration in overglaze enamels of green red and yellow in addition to the white ground and the circle of blue on the base makes this piece a true wucai. Around the shoulder are bats with spread out wings in a circle. On the bottom in underglaze blue is the Wanli Reign Mark within a double circle. There is an illegible paint stamp of what is possibly"China" Seller advises buyer to research especially the history of"wucai" during the Ming Dynasty. The jar is 2 1/2" high and 11 1/4" around the belly.
