Unique Antique Chamber Thunder Piss Slop Handle Pot Glazed Pottery Lime Green
This fabulous pot belonged to my great grandmother. It was found at my grandmother's home. I don't know the true age. I don't know anything about this kind of pot so I don't know the maker. I will try and describe it to the best of what I see: The color is out-standing. It is a great lime green color. That is very unusual. It has so much character. It has bumps made in the pottery mainly seen on the inside bottom. There is crazing from it's age. There is glazing that is not perfect in some areas. You will notice it has different coloring from a green into a redish brown glazing. In some areas it has dents in the pottery but that is in the making because it has glaze over it. In some areas there are dings and little nicks from use. I have tried to describe all of the flaws. Still a great pot. It has a scallop design around ... morethe under lip on the outside of pot. There is one handle. I looked at the bottom real close and there is an area that may have a number or name but I really don't know. It is not clear at all. It has a brownish line on one side that is not a crack because it is covered with glaze. It is more on the primative style in the making. Don't expect this pot to look pristine or new. It is very old and rugged. It is very different. You will fall in love with it! The size is: Rim 8" Width: 9.5" With handle 10.5" Height: 5.25" This piece is being sold in a pre-owned condition. I have not cleaned it. I will leave that to the new owner. Please ask all questions and look at photos before bidding. 18th C DUTCH BLUE-Glazed Pottery TANKARD w/ PEWTER LID-1/2 KAN-Delft?-NR!
Up for bid is an early Dutch tin-glazed pottery tankard with a pewter lid. Almost certainly 18th century, likely Delft. The piece is 6 ½ inches tall to the top of the thumbpiece, and 5 inches from handle tip to spout. The body is a buff-colored pottery, painted in a thick crackly blue and glazed over. A shield-shaped reserve in the front has double bird heads and reads“1/2/ KAN/ S” The piece has its original thin pewter lid with thumbpiece, hinged to a band of pewter clamped around the top of the handle. The lid is faintly engraved with a Roman numeral“XI” or“IX” Condition on the piece is fair. There are several small patches where the glaze has chipped away. Namely on the spout and handle. There is a fairly large interior chip with a hairline glaze crack down into the interior. Antique Mottled Redware Jar, Primitive Lead Glazed Pot 19th Century Folk Pottery
Up for bids we offer this genuine. 19th Century redware pottery jar in very good, well-preserved condition. It's a rugged, utility pot that has a charming, bulbous shape with two applied handles. This piece is lead glazed and colored with oxides, green being the main color along with rust-colored mottling and touches of mustard yellow too. It's a striking blend of colors that really makes this pot stand out in a room. The inside of it is completely glazed while most of the sides of the exterior are too. The outside area close to the bottom edge and the entire underside are not glazed and the original dry and dirty red clay surface is exposed. There are a pair of decorative, incised bands near the top and a number 2 impressed in the surface just above them, on one side As to be expected. This old redware jar shows lots of age, however ... moreit is in very good overall shape! It's solid, sound, and not deteriorating in any way. The opening rim has a shallow chunk out of it and a small chip in the opposite side. They are old flaws that likely happened during use way back when, they have the same patina as the rest of the piece and have been worn smooth over time. The edge of the bottom also has a little chipping in a couple places which is typical for an early household piece such as this. There are no cracks or hairlines and the handles are in great condition, it's amazing a piece as old as this one didn't sustain a break in one or both of its handles. You'll find that the glaze on one side is much glossier than that on the other side; the interior glaze is very flat too. Not considered special back in its time, this old jar was for everyday use and the wear and tear it has is indicative of that. As for measurements. It stands 6 5/8 inches high and has a bottom diameter of 3 5/8 inches while the opening measures 5 inches across. Handle to handle, the widest portion is 7 inches. There are no repairs to this piece. This salt glazed jug has a hand applied handle. It stands 10.75 inches and is about 21 inches around. The grey toned salt glaze has an orange peel texture. The clay exposed on the unglazed bottom is a pale pink color. There are imperfections from the manufacturing process and some minor chipping aroun the top-please take a look at the pictures. The jug was found in an Ohio Valley homestead. Considering its age it is in good condition.

It is in great condition with only one very minor and very tight hairline on the bottom that does not go through. There are some minor issues that happened during or before firing. They are shown in pictures 7 and 8. There is also a divet or dent in the side where the firing issues are as if the clay was dented when it was made as shown in picture 2. This doesn't take away from the integrity of the crock and doesn't show when turned to the back. Pictures 1 and 4 look very light compared to the rest. Both have holes at base which are original( not drilled) and I assume are meant for ease in electrifying if so desired. Hispano morsque Islamic Designs in yellow. Blue, and green on an off while base glaze. Safi Pottery is very well desired. Specially early pieces which are so harder to find and rarely seen. Each bout 4 1/2 inches base diameter. 7 3/4 inches in height, with candle opening at about 1 inches. Both pieces signed"Safi" at base. Persian Qajar Polychrome Faience Mid-stem Pan Candlestick(Heemskirk form) in Pottery from c1850(or older; for more details. Continue reading below) Welcome to a February late-winter Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: A fine polychrome tin glazed Persian lslamic Qajar pottery candlestick. It is hand thrown on a potter’s wheel and styled after much older brass and silver candlesticks. The style is called a mid-stem drip pan that was common in Western Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries in sand cast brass(see last photo for an example of a brass mid-stem drip pan‘Heemskirk’ candlestick not for sale here. You are only bidding on the Qajar pottery candlestick shown in the other eleven photos) The dish-shaped pan located midway on the stem has a crimped or wavy edge and functioned to catch wax dripping from a burning candle. The Qajar ... morepottery candlestick listed here dates from about 1850 or possible earlier. It is a nice example capturing a much older, relic candlestick form that became obsolete after self-consuming candlewicks along with slower burning wax were perfected in the 1700s. In all my years of collecting antique pottery, this is the first Qajar pottery example of a mid-pan candlestick that I have encountered. Persian Isnik candlesticks(aka Iznik) are also rare, too, and any examples would have the same high temperature bright colors as the colors on this candlestick. The short wax candle shown in some of the photos is not included in this sale(you are only bidding on the Qajar pottery candlestick) This candlestick may have originally had a metal foot since the current base is oddly constructed with a slight lip underneath and no foot ring(see all photos) The candlestick is covered with a noticeably thick tin glaze that is weakly opaque. Coarsely crazed and covers a light yellowish-buff clay body. A wonderful Arts& Crafts pottery pitcher and 2 cups. Incredible blue/green matte glaze. MINT as far as damage; No chips. No hairline cracks, no repairs. I must point out there is some dirt/dust or grime in the bottom of the cups and pitcher and inside sides of pitcher. Some crazing in the glaze. Difficult to photograph the wonderful color of these. The white pottery underneath appears to be porcelain. These are thrown. No markings. The glaze is a mottled blue/green with some drips and one side of the pitcher has a feathered effect due to the glaze. These came out a fine portland. Oregon estate of Arts& Crafts pottery. I was assured they are C1910-1920 and were displayed by the great-grandfather of the person selling them, for years in his hutch and then handed them down in the family, we were told they were from England. I thought ... morethey were new when first seen because of bright colors and condition but upon further inspection of the build up of dirt/grime in the bottoms and inside side of pitcher I feel this these are old but in just wonderful/loved condition. I have not attempted to clean/wash these. I would be doubtful if ever used. They are just beautiful. Maker unknown. Please see all photos. Radford England Butterfly Ware pottery pitcher jug glazed and hand painted 1930s
I have for auction this evening a very nice pottery jug by Radford of England. The piece is called butterfly wear and is fully hand painted in almost a fairyland style motif with a beautifull big butterfly on the rim by the handle. I love the use of primary colors and you can imageine at the time this was made it was very affordable and it was war times and the depression era so everyone around the world including those in England were looking for wears that were bright and colorfull to brighten up even the gloomiest table or cabinet. This pitcher would have been a prize possession and is still a great show piece and woudl look a real treat in your favorite cabinet or sitting out perhaps with a bunch of your favorite posies in it. Just lovely and great for a childs room as well. Item dimensions and dating: This piece measures 5.5" long ... morefrom spout tip to handle end and stands 6.5" tall. The jury is out on the exact date of these wears and if they are from the earliest period in the 1920.S or toward the latter part of the companies production in the 1950's. I personally see this from a style stand point and to me that puts it right at the mid way point in the late thirties but thats just my personal feeling about it. Condition report: This piece is in vintage excellent condition with only one issue worth mentioning. There is a firing split in the pottery mold at the bottom of the handle. I have looked at this through my loupe very closely because i thought the handle had been broken then cleverly reattached but you can tell its never actually been broken and the glaze extends out over the jagged edge at the point of seperation. I normally deal in porcelain so this is a new type of firing mishap that I have never seen but its not danage. There are no other cracks of any type or chips. There is fine line crazing throughout and darker on the bottom but this is normal for these wears and commensurate with its 80 plus years of age. A beautiful ancient Chinese Sancai glazed pottery figure of a court official. Dating to the Tang dynasty, approximately 618-907 A.D. The male figure is shown wearing long robe with thick over-cloak. Open at the chest. He wears a cut-away headdress and bears a very serene expression. The hands are held close to the chest within the sleeves of the robe. The figure has been painted with thick green and cream glaze. With one or two splashes of ochre. The green glaze creating a wonderful effect as it drips down the figure's legs and pools on his feet. The head, chest and feet of the figure are left unglazed, with details such as the moustache, eyebrows and pupils painted in added black. Red pigment highlights the inner robe at the chest. This is neat Antique Crock/Pottery# 4[4 gallon size] Butter Churn. I think for it's age it is in good condition but being very old it does have some chips from use and a hairline crack in the glaze on one side-see pics. This little crack does not go into the Crock. Only the glaze. I tried to get pics from all angles so that you can see exactly what you will be getting. This Churn also includes the Crock/Pottery Lid and the Wood Dasher. It is stamped# 4 in blue lettering on the Churn and also the Lid but maker is unknown. Height of Churn alone is 16" and with the Dasher height is approx 34" and measures approx 33 1/2" around the widest part.
