Inside decorated with blue and white Chinese landscape. Houses, people, trees, rocks etc. These baskets are now quite rare to find in such good condition. Age: 19th century. Ca. 1840. Condition: Two small clean frits of the glaze inside botton of bowl just over the roof of the top left most house. I am almost certain that these two spots of missing glaze origin from the manufacture. Otherwise perfect! No further chips. No hairlines, no restoration. Famille Rose Chinese Porcelain Jar - Guangxu - 19th Century - Signed
You are bidding on a Famille Rose porcelain jar of Chinese origin. Most likely Guangxu(1875-1908) According to the red marking on the bottom of the jar this jar dates from 1875-1908. The Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The piece was purchased in Scotland in the 1970's. The jar has very nice incised enamelling and rich colors. There are four medallions with Chinese characters in red. The jar measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" There are no cracks or chips. The lip of the jar has two small glazed-over dints made before the piece was glazed and dates from the time of manufacturing. One of the earlier owners glued a protective felt to the bottom with rubber cement. I was able to remove most of the rubber cement easily. But there are still remnants on the unglazed foot, as seen in the photographs that can still be removed. There are a few ... morevery small frits on the foot rim that I only mention in order to give a complete and thorough description. The interior is clean. The rim edge of the lid is unglazed and displays some roughness due to kiln soot and use. The only wear on the paint appears on the red Chinese characters, probably an overglaze application. Late 18th Early 19th Cent Chinese Export Porcelain Cups and Bowl Hand Decorated
Chinese Export Tea Pieces Offered is a set of Chinese Export porcelain items hand decorated with blue trim and orange floral details and green leaves. The pieces include a small bowl that measures 4 1/4" across and 1" tall. There are two extremely small chips and some crazing underneath. Other marks are clearly from production. The second item id a very small footed cup that perfectly matches the bowl. Very common in the 1800's tea cups were made without handles and the tea was drank from a shallow bowl or saucer. This particular cup is 1 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" across the top. There is a single chip to the mouth of the small cup as well as some crazing and as shown there is a bit of porcelain remaining on the inside from production. The final piece is a but larger and may have been used for sugar. It also has a couple ... moreof blemishes and a hairline crack as shown. It stands 2 1/2" tall and 2 7/8" across the mouth. A terrific antique set that shows the wonderful craftsmanship of the time period as well as the differences in life and culture. A fresh estate find. This wonderfully decorated jar has four round emblems spaced equally around the jar body. Each emblem has a purplish pink circle centered with a blue double bat with double happiness symbols against a green background with white dots in the field. Between the emblems are purplish pink. Red and yellow flowers intertwined with white and green foliage backed with a contrasting green. A border around the base consists of purplish pink waves. The rim is bordered with a yellow line and green leaf patterned band. The base and interior are glazed white. The is a fascinating and colorful example that is rarely seen.
