This is a very early antique Chinese ginger jar converted to a lamp base. The jar has brilliant cobalt blue decoration of a Canton Export scene. The jar has been drilled for the cord. And the cord needs to be replaced. This is a really nice example and is really beautiful. The jar is otherwise in good condition and could use a good cleaning. This would be the oldest lamp base I have ever sold. The jar is from around 1840. This will make a fantastic addition to any collection or home decor. The buyer will be very pleased. Measurements: knife 7 1/4 inches long; fork a little over 6 inches long; spoon 6 3/8 inches long. Weigh 140.3grams. Stunning workmanship on this set of knife. Fork, spoon. Made smaller than typical cutlery/flatware in order to better fit a child's hand. Similar sets were made later on by Tiffany& Co. and other makers. The tops of each piece have fabulous repousse work. Very much in the European style- particularly Scottish theme of thistles and foliage run up the handles of each piece. An applied oval silver disk with initials M.F or M.L hidden amongst the boisterous decoration. Condition: Two small clean frits of the glaze inside botton of bowl just over the roof of the top left most house. Rare 19th Century Blue and White Canton Chinese Export Syllabub Cup and Lid with extra bonus second lid. This is a fabulous find and to be in such great condition for its Antique age. The footed cup has a twisted strap handle and a wonderful berry finial motif on lid. It has a gorgeous and pleasing motif and Chinese Scenic detail. It has a great glaze and the beauty of the deep blue color is a sight to behold. It has a very slight flake on the edge of the lid hardly noticeable and a small chip and small hairline on the inside rim of cup. All in All it does not detract from it's beauty. Fine Quality Canton Enamel Vases fitted as Lamps This pair of antique Chinese enameled Canton/ Beijing vases were fitted as electric lamps in the late 19th or early 20th century. Very finely painted in a naturalistic style. I would guess the vases date to the late 19th or early 20th century. The lamp fixtures are of the highest quality and quite unusual for there adjustable shade holders. The burners were manufactured by Pass and Seymour of New York. Both lamps work and have replaced electric cords. The bases are gilded, one has been covered in green felt. The enamel is nearly perfect. Very unusual in Chinese enameled copper wares. I have photographed one small spider crack, the only noticeable damage I can find. There are no repairs. This is a pretty unique shape for canton enamel. It is in the shape of a small gravy boat with tripod feet and an animal handle. We have been informed that it is actually a tea scoop. The piece is 3 ¼ inches long, 2 inches high and 1 7/8 inches wide. It has a handle on it in the shape of an animal or possibly a qilong. The eyes and the tail are evident. The piece is enameled with vibrant colors, especially on the bottom. It is marked China. We believe this dates to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. 2 Antique Leaf Shaped Chinese Canton Dishes. Landscape Painting, Blue& White Presented is a pair of two antique leaf shaped Chinese Canton dishes. One dish is slightly larger than the other. The decoration of the larger dish is a slightly lighter shade of blue than the smaller one. Both dishes depict a land-and-seascape with buildings. Trees, boats/ships and an island. The decoration and perspective is very well done. They are similar designs but not identical. The larger dish has a star detail to the border which gives it a quilted effect. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The dishes were made in China in the mid 1800s. The smaller of the two dishes is in great shape. There is a tiny flaw or flake which does not show much as it is against the darkness of a tree. This may have occurred in manufacture. Otherwise there are no chips. ... moreNo cracks, no crazing, and no other problems of any kind. The larger dish has a 19.05 mm chip to the stem of the leaf. This is indicated in our photographs. The larger one also has eight flea bites or flakes to the glaze of the rim. They are hardly visible. Otherwise. There are no other chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no other problems of any kind. At one time there was tape around the bases' edges to protect a table surface. There is a little residue from the tape but this will come off easily. Decorated with intricate floral designs on a blue ground and raised center with various characters. Turquoise blue enamel inside the cup and on the back of the saucer. Date 18th to early 19thC. Qianlong to Jiaqing period. Cup measures 2.75 inches in diameter, handle to handle 4 1/2" and 1 15/16" tall to top of handle. Saucer measures 5" in diameter and 7/8" tall. The fan was made in Canton(China) circa 1890, and was produced for export to the west. Both the front and back guards have produced from sandalwood. Heavily carved with decoration featuring bamboo, with the sticks carved and pierced to match the guards. The fan has been mounted with fine cream fabric leaf. Which has been delightfully embroidered with flowers and butterflies. The fan is held together with a simple brass coloured pin and mother of pearl rivet. The fan also comes with original black lacquered storage box. With gilt decoration featuring people to the top, and has delightful painted silk lined fitted interior. This is an absolutely gorgeous antique Chinese Canton Export intricately hand carved cow bone parasol handle. The handle is made up of several parts that screw together. The carved motif is of rectangular plaques. Unusual, I have never seen this before It has a stunning bas relief effect. There are some fissures and age marks. Mostly around the end of the handle. It is a total of 5 and 1/2inches in height. It has a glass dome which is original Chinese glass. The plate shows some wear, but the important portions are still quite good. I do not understand how the cap or wick portion fits into the font, and I have it so it fits loosely on top, but it looks like there is some sort of trick to make it fit. There is a small nib inside and the handle fits into a slot on the cap. It looks like this locks in somehow, but I have not figured it out yet. This is an absolutely gorgeous antique early 19th century Chinese brise fan It is a Canton export unusually hand painted and pierced cow bone Each stave is hand painted in gouache with flowers. Fruit, birds& butterflies. There is some chipping as can be observed in the photos. The fan needs to be remounted, the guardsticks are beautifully detailed with marcasite but may not be the originals. The rivet is intact and the loop is made of silver. The ribbon needs to be replaced but other than that this fan is in good but time worn condition. A superbly crafted piece of history. Please study the photos!
