A circa 1960’s Chinese china import of a Gold gilt painted Orange Dragon bone china or porcelain spoon. The base has the backstamp: China. That per interest research suggests that this is a 1960’s item. This piece is made so that it is rather a standing piece of art pottery- nothing like an English style of spoon. Heavy metallic gold on the front of the spoon. The spoon ladle is painted with an Orange dragon with green and gold gilt decor. Back of the spoon is a plain white glazed piece with China backstamp. Size: approx. length is 5 ½ inches; approx. height of handle is 2 inches; approx width of the spoon base is 1 3/4ths inches. Gold paint and décor looks and feels like a 22K application– heavy gold application. The piece is not labeled. So I do not know that for certain. Also, I am not an expert in vintage Asian pottery or porcelain, ... morebut a specialized reference site online does indicate that the backstamp should date to the 1960’s. Antique Blue/White Rice Grain/Eyes Porcelain Soup Spoons Export China 1850-1899
Three very nice rice grain/eye porcelain rice spoons. These spoons are made in the traditional method of small rice grain sized cuts in the greenware then overglazed before firing to create a see through effect. There are no maker's marks which indicate they could be pre 1891 when import label requirements where established. The spoons all have small nubs on the bottom showing the original fire stands. The three spoons are each unique with two of the three slightly more primitive but still the same style. There are no chips. Cracks or crazing, please examine the photos. The spoons are 5-1/2 inches long and 2 inches at the spoon width. Thanks for looking!
