Large 19th Century Chinese signed brass two handled censer with stand. Part of a small collection currently listed& recently acquired from a private estate. A heavy brass censer with character marks to base. Condition is very good with the usual age related surface use marks. It has not been cleaned or polished for many years. The two bamboo design side handles have both been soldered back on at some time in the past. One is still loose on one side but the whole censer can still be lifted& held using the handles, the deer finial has bent ears& it's horns are missing. Despite the handle repairs& slight losses to the finial it is still a very impresive piece of considerable size& stature. Beautiful shape& form& excellent patina to the metal. Offered here now from a local estate collection is this wonderful antique Chinese carved brooch. It features Qilin resting amongst the bamboo. Made from carved ox bone. The engraved scene and calligraphy are amazingly detailed if you consider the size. The artist must have used a magnifying glass while they worked as the Chinese characters are approaching microscopic. Estimated age is early to mid 20th Century. 19th Century Chinese Temple Plague Gilt Hardwood Handcrafted Signed Very Rare. Description: This is an unusual 19th century temple plaque or shrine handcarved out of beautiful gilt covered hardwood. The item is signed on the side was obtained from an old estate library. The wood has cracked in some places over time but overall is holding well. Would recommend careful handling due to the age of the item. Will be carefully packed in a large reinforced box with sufficient cushioning. Famille Rose Chinese Porcelain Jar - Guangxu - 19th Century - Signed
You are bidding on a Famille Rose porcelain jar of Chinese origin. Most likely Guangxu(1875-1908) According to the red marking on the bottom of the jar this jar dates from 1875-1908. The Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The piece was purchased in Scotland in the 1970's. The jar has very nice incised enamelling and rich colors. There are four medallions with Chinese characters in red. The jar measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" There are no cracks or chips. The lip of the jar has two small glazed-over dints made before the piece was glazed and dates from the time of manufacturing. One of the earlier owners glued a protective felt to the bottom with rubber cement. I was able to remove most of the rubber cement easily. But there are still remnants on the unglazed foot, as seen in the photographs that can still be removed. There are a few ... morevery small frits on the foot rim that I only mention in order to give a complete and thorough description. The interior is clean. The rim edge of the lid is unglazed and displays some roughness due to kiln soot and use. The only wear on the paint appears on the red Chinese characters, probably an overglaze application. This is a nice large Chinese carved bamboo tea caddy It is superbly carved in high relief with four cartouches depicting two scenes from Chinese novel and the two others with phoenixes. The lid is also carved with figures and trees. Signed in the bottom and inside lid see photos. This tea caddy from mid 19th century. It measures 17.5 cm tall and 12 cm diameter. Still in good condition for bamboo art of work. With small brass hinged top and bottom liner(inside) intact. Very good condition. Some cracks in the bamboo age result. Antique Chinese Hand Carved Rosewood Frame with Mirror Large Signed 19th Century
Please note that the following photo was modified to try and remove the mirror reflection. The mirror glass is antique and has age lines. The border around mirror is excellent. I will replace with clear original photo as soon as possible. For sale is a beautiful hand carved antique Chinese rosewood frame with old mirror. I believe the frame to be late 19th century. It has peg construction and there are two Chinese characters carved into the side of the frame. I believe these to be the maker’s name but am not sure. The overall size of the frame is about 54 ½ inches by 35 inches. It is not likely that this frame was originally designed to hold a mirror. It is much too impressive and would likely have held a painted panel or screen of some type. The back of the frame has small slots carved out around the inside edge to accommodate wooden ... moreinserts. Of which I have three. The size of the mirror section is 40 ½ by 22 ½ inches. The mirror that is currently in the frame is old with very heavily layered silvering. The carving on this frame is truly beautiful. The outer most section of the frame has eight unique carvings separated by floral designs on the sides and geometric patterns at the corners. The overall frame is in excellent condition with only very small wood loss. The wood is very hard and heavy and is a very high quality. I am not sure if the teal highlights in the frame were done by the maker or if it was done after. There is no trace of teal highlighting at the back. Located in Irvine. CA. Pick up is free. The frame is large and very heavy. Guaranteed to be original and as described- Antique old late 1800's early 1900's hand carved Chinese Qing Dynasty signed with label wooden stand with marble insert. The carving is exquisite and this is unusual because of the small signed and being that it is signed as well. SIZE: 7 1/4 inches high by about 7 1/2 inches across the widest part.CONDITION: Fine condition. There are no repairs and there are no missing pieces.
