Well potted with a gently ... moreflaring rim rising on a long neck upon the globular body. The glaze is of attractive. Even jade seafoam coloration suffused with handsome crazing. Two horizontal bands encircle the shoulder, creating a subtle elegance which is quite magnificent in the traditional Ming aesthetic. Both the interior of the vase and the recessed foot glazed white. The artist exhibited a subtle attention to detail which is exceptionally refined. The slightly spreading circular foot ring has been left unglazed and displays burnt orange firing coloration. The vase is in excellent antique condition bearing just minor wear commensurate with age. We note some minor wear to the rim, but nothing that in any way detracts from the sublime form and beauty of the piece. Dating to the late Ming Dynasty, 15th/16th century, this rare and meticulously crafted example of Chinese celadon ware is of important museum quality. Famille Rose Chinese Porcelain Jar - Guangxu - 19th Century - Signed
You are bidding on a Famille Rose porcelain jar of Chinese origin. Most likely Guangxu(1875-1908) According to the red marking on the bottom of the jar this jar dates from 1875-1908. The Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The piece was purchased in Scotland in the 1970's. The jar has very nice incised enamelling and rich colors. There are four medallions with Chinese characters in red. The jar measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" There are no cracks or chips. The lip of the jar has two small glazed-over dints made before the piece was glazed and dates from the time of manufacturing. One of the earlier owners glued a protective felt to the bottom with rubber cement. I was able to remove most of the rubber cement easily. But there are still remnants on the unglazed foot, as seen in the photographs that can still be removed. There are a few ... morevery small frits on the foot rim that I only mention in order to give a complete and thorough description. The interior is clean. The rim edge of the lid is unglazed and displays some roughness due to kiln soot and use. The only wear on the paint appears on the red Chinese characters, probably an overglaze application. Each emblem has a purplish pink circle centered with a blue double bat with double happiness symbols against a green background with white dots in the field. Between the emblems are purplish pink. Red and yellow flowers intertwined with white and green foliage backed with a contrasting green. A border around the base consists of purplish pink waves.
