And you rarely see examples with porcelain plaques inlaid like this. Not only do you rarely see examples like this but the porcelain plaque is one of the finest I have ever seen and is superbly and ornately hand painted throughout. I was told the table would date from the mid to later part of the 19th century which by the amazing qualities I believe to be a correct dating. The Table itself is completely hand carved of a fine rosewood which has a beautiful old patina to the wood. The table does not have any nails used in its construction, which is another good indication of its fine qualities. The Plaque is really amazing with large Imperial Phoenix and Dragon figures. The porcelain plaque shows some light wear throughout, but overall for the age the plaque and table are in very fine original condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, about as fine of condition as one could ever hope to find an example like this.

Famille Rose Chinese Porcelain Jar - Guangxu - 19th Century - Signed
You are bidding on a Famille Rose porcelain jar of Chinese origin. Most likely Guangxu(1875-1908) According to the red marking on the bottom of the jar this jar dates from 1875-1908. The Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The piece was purchased in Scotland in the 1970's. The jar has very nice incised enamelling and rich colors. There are four medallions with Chinese characters in red. The jar measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" There are no cracks or chips. The lip of the jar has two small glazed-over dints made before the piece was glazed and dates from the time of manufacturing. One of the earlier owners glued a protective felt to the bottom with rubber cement. I was able to remove most of the rubber cement easily. But there are still remnants on the unglazed foot, as seen in the photographs that can still be removed. There are a few ... morevery small frits on the foot rim that I only mention in order to give a complete and thorough description. The interior is clean. The rim edge of the lid is unglazed and displays some roughness due to kiln soot and use. The only wear on the paint appears on the red Chinese characters, probably an overglaze application.
