Antique Vintage Sterling Silver Button Hook with Tapered Handle- Hermann Bauer You are bidding on a Vintage Sterling Silver Button Hook made by Hermann Bauer in the late 1800's. It is stamped with his logo'HB' on the shaft along with'ACIER' on the opposite side. The handle is stamped with'800 along with the Crescent and Crown' All German markings indicating the quality of the silver and the maker. This button hook measures 8-1/2" long and has some wear. This is a very nicely designed silver handle button hook. It has the hall marks of being made in Birmingham in 1901 but the makers mark is rubbed. This is a great designed Sterling silver handle button hook in extremely nice condition. It has Sterling and B1805. But the date mark is rubbed located on one side next to the shank. It has a number 1 shank as pictured in IAN WOOD, AN INTRODUCTION TO GORHAM on page 25. I couldn't match up the design with any in the book! The shank is a polished steel tapered to the hook.
