Wonderful late 1800s early 1900s baby teething ring rattle with a Koala Bear. It still rattles as well! Not sure of the composition of the ring but after some research. Think it is probably Ivory/Bone. Bakelite would have discolored after this long a time and darkened. This is only a guess and as I am not an expert I cannot guarantee the material. Phenomenal antiqe sterling silver baby bell by webster. On a polished mother of pearl ring. There are many designs of this bells front, and this one I don't see as often. You can compare on ebay alone. This is engraved to a baby born 1.5.39 with the initials JMD. There is no damage to the shell, and no dents or damage to the bell. Just tarnish. Which has been beautifully fashioned as an Owl. The fine rattle is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1901 and has the maker's initials for Crisford Norris. This rare rattle is a large size measuring approx. 16.5 cms in length and about 5 cms in width across the widest points and has a total weight of 70 grams. It is made of solid silver with fabulous silver embossed decoration also featuring a row of faces with foliate and floral scroll work. Simply exquisite! The rattle is fitted with all it's original silver bells. Four across the top and and eight around the central body making a total of 12 and all ring beautifully. The whistle is also still in good working order and sounds well. To the back of the mouthpiece ... moreis a hanging loupe so that the rattle could be tied to a ribbon so the lucky child owner would not lose it. The base of the rattle has a coral teether. The quality of workmanship is exquisite. It is a winged cherub on a handle that makes a rattling sound when shaken. It is surely of European origin. It is hallmarked on both sides of the small(1/4” diameter ring attached to the handle. There are a total of 8 hallmarks. But they are so small they are difficult to read. I can see“925” on 4 of the hallmarks. Another appears to be the maker’s mark of“MG& SA” There is also one that appears to be a seahorse and another that looks a little like crosshairs in a sight. Another is a shield or coat of arms that appears to have the letters“FM” and then a T” below them. Antique Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Baby Rattle, RARE Heart Shaped MOP Lucite
Up for sale is an antique Tiffany& Co. baby rattle. The bell is sterling silver and is monogrammed B-E-I. It is also marked Sterling in two locations and Tiffany& Co. on the loop. But it is very worn and hard to make out. It has a Mother of Pearl style Lucite handle, and the heart shape is somewhat rare. They are much easier to find with just a circle shaped handle. The bell is an estimated 9g of Sterling Silver and measures approximately 1.25" in size. The heart is about 2.5" in size. The loop has a cute belt buckle design. There is minor fine scratching on the silver and the loop is a bit dented, but I would consider it to be in overall nice condition. The handle is also nice with little noticeable wear.
