LARGE ANTIQUE CHINESE TOURMALINE CABOCHON IN GILT PLAQUE W/ KINGFISHER FEATHERS
Large. 22 mm x 18 mm, antique Chinese rose pink tourmaline cabochon set in gilt plaque. Originally, the plaque was covered with kingfisher feathers. It still has some of their brilliant blue presence. Oval in shape, the plaque has three blossoms or leaves across the top, and its organic design suggests late Victorian work. The piece is 1 7/8 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide. I travel frequently between SF and Amsterdam. Neth. and item will be sent from wherever I am when the auction closes. Spring clearing out of my lovelies continues. Antique Chinese Kingfisher(feather) hair ornament featuring freshwater pearls. Gilt butterflies with pearl enhanced antennae, and could be either a cabochon glass jewel or a garnet, tourmaline or ruby- I haven't ever had it tested. A gift from a well traveled friend, sadly my hair is too fine to have been able to wear it. Happy to send anywhere in the world with appropriate supplemental postage. Insurance and tracking. A piece of art you do not see anymore. Antique Chinese flower decorated with Kingfisher feathers. A bright iridescent blue. The feathers are perfect, too, something else rarely seen. This was a part of a larger damaged piece; i had a goldsmith solder on the stick pin in the 60's. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE BROOCH. I BELIEVE IT DATES TO 1890-1900. THE BROOCH DEPICTS A KOI FISH WHICH IS COVERED IN BRIGHT BLUE KINGHFISHER FEATHERS. ALL THE FEATHERS ARE ORIGINAL AND ARE IN PLACE WITH NO DAMAGE. THERE IS RED ENAMEL ON THE FISH'S LIPS. THE BAR BROOCH HAS FEATHERS ON IT AS WELL. THE BROOCH HAS IT'S OLD"C" CLASP CLOSURE. THERE IS A SILVER RING MISSING WHICH ATTACHES THE BAR TO THE FISH. THE LOOPS ON THE FISH AND THE BAR ARE IN PLACE. IT JUST NEEDS A RING. THE FISH IS ARTICULATED. THE PIECE PUT TOGETHER MEASURES 2 1/4" LONG AND 1 1/4" WIDE. THE PIECE HAS BEEN TESTED AND IS AT LEAST 800 SILVER. IT HAD GILT ON IT BUT SOME OF IT HAS DULLED TO JUST A DARK SILVER COLOR. Antique Victorian Chinese Silver Ornate Brooch Inlaid Kingfisher Feathers & Seed
You are bidding on a very old Chinese brooch that measures approx. 1” x 3/4” x 3/8” thick. I have added a coin in one picture so you can gauge the size. This lovely piece of jewelry is made with layers of raised silver in the shape of a flower that are inlaid with light blue and dark blue iridescent kingfisher feathers. And embellished with seed pearls. DIMENSIONS: Flower- 40mm w. x 20mm h. 1.57" x.78" and about 2mm thick. Total length- about 35mm. CONDITION: About 60% feather loss distributed randomly. It still has the red faceted stone at the center. This pin does not have sewing loops.
