Two identical ginger jars. Approximately 5" tall, with lids. Each jar has a yellow background, with predominantly green coloring(leaves) with red floweres. Each jar has a dragon on two sides, one white and one green, and the jars are mirrow images of each other, so you can have the dragons facing each other or facing away from each other- or show one of each color and face them whichever way you want. There is an artist's mark on the bottom of each jar- they were brought home from China in the 1930's- but there's a gummed label covering them and I don't want to change anything on the pieces(that could be up to you) Each jar has a lid. These are gorgeous and belonged to my mother whom had a very large collection of blue and white She loved incorporating them in every home and would mix oriental with country and it always worked Please feel free to ofer your opinion as I'm not at all an expert on this type of item. These are very similar in shape. Design and size yet one is about a pound heavier than the other Beautiful Blue& White can transition to any type of design in my opinion. Overall in lovely condition except for any natural imperfections and a few nicks inside one lid. The texture is bumpy and there are a lot of like pin dots in the porcelain mostly on the lids. They have a nice shine except for the tops of each jar and part of the bottoms. They seem to be hand painted. The bottoms have a double circle and not other markings. Both are 9 inches tall. ANTIQUE Pair of PEWTER Chinese WEDDING Ginger Jars
RARE FIND. Antique PEWTER. CHINESE Wedding. GINGER JARS. We have recently found this pair of PEWTER GINGER JARS that were'MADE in CHINA' which are the type that the Chinese use at their weddings. They fill them with special candies and goodies for their guests. The jars are in good condition. But do have a couple of dents. One of the jars has some discoloration. The jars are beautifully engraved and have a red stone set in the top of the lid. The bottoms are marked"Made in China" so they were produced around 1913. We have taken several pictures for you to look at and judge this pair for yourself. Each jar measures 3" across the base, 4" across the widest part, 3 1/4" across the rim of the jar and is 7 1/2" tall. They weigh just over 4 lb. Sides decorated in biscuit-painted famille verte enamels in the late 19th century Kangxi-revival style and likely of the post-1850 period. The pots have an overall design of foliate in green and rust enamels on a crackled glaze against an oatmeal background. Estimated date of manufacture for the pots. Late 19th or early 20th century, circa the Guangxu Reign. Marked"China" in Red, coresponding to US importation requirements, dating their importation to the last half of the 19th century, approx. 1870-1890. Guaranteed to be original and as described- Very RARE to find a PAIR of antique 18th century signed Chinese Kangxi Period(and are of the period circa 1720) blue and white decorated Foo Dog fine paste porcelain ginger jars. SIZE: 4 1/2 inches high by 4 inches wide. CONDITION: Fine condition, there are no repairs, there is some wear to the base's from age. There is a circular manufacturing heat line on the lower portion of both of the jar's that was simply done in the making process. There are no lids. Meiji, Without Tops DESCRIPTION: Both beautifully hand decorated by Japanese artists whose superb technical skills were combined with gracefulness of form and a fine mixture of compounded colors. Most Kyoto Satsuma ware was decorated with hand painted floral designs. These two jars were certainly exported for decorative purposes and are covered outside with a millefleur pattern. The age is between 1875 and 1880. Both are marked on the bottom. The cross in the square is for the Kyoto School. This listing is for an antique Cloisonne BOWL Vase with a PAIR of matching Ginger Jars. This item was recently purchased from an estate. I was told that they were bought in China. Sometime in the early to mid 1900's, and the lable on the larger piece does state"Made in China" SPECIFICATIONS: This is a USED/PRE-OWNED Item Material: Cloisonne Enamel over metal. There are no marks that I can find on the outside. Interiors have usual pock marks as shown in photos. The Vase measures approximately 5" tall and 8" in diameter at it's widest area. The Ginger Jars have the wooden pedestal bases and Measure approximately 6 1/8" tall(on the base) and approximately 4 1/2" in diameter at their widest area. I did not take a jeweler's Loupe to the items, so there may be some small scratches, scuffs, dings, wear and ... moreimperfections in some areas, as well as some small holes/pitting etc. as you expect to find on vintage cloisonne items-please see images. This is a pair of fantastic looking antique Chinese cloisonné ginger jars with intricate Brass Inlay. Both are 10.5" tall. Each jar(with lid) weighs 3.2 LB. There is a little wear on the insides of the jars. Especially inside the lids(pictured) but they look great and the exteriors are in really good shape.
