It is about 13.4 cm or about 4 7/8" tall(not including the base) About 50 grams(not including the base) It is very elegantly carved. Not over done like the more recent examples. It is in good condition as shown- the item in her left hand looks like it is missing its end. And there is a natural hole in the coral on her left cheek that is full of dirt or similar. Mrs. Mary Morrison. Was a collector, former museum curator and lecturer on Asian art at the University of British Columbia, Canada. She also played an important role in creating the Canadian Society for Asian Arts which got its start in Vancouver in 1968. SCROLL DOWN FOR PICTURES(35 pictures below) This auction is for an antique Qing Dynasty Chinese Kernel Carving made from an Olive Nut(also called an Olive Stone) Together with its base. It is engraved with a micro poem on the base. About 44 mm long. Qing Dynasty. It is carved with 28 human faces. Opening shutters, and about 104 Chinese characters. In the olive nut engraving. There are two ladies sitting and drinking in the front of the boat-shaped olive nut, with 2 servants standing behind them. Both sides of the cabin are carved with 4 windows, one on each side has shutters which can be opened and closed easily(one is missing one shutter and the other is missing part of a shutter) There are 6 people viewing the moon on the top, and two more on each side looking out of two upper windows, two people by the rear window, and two people standing ... morein the middle, and two more at the back end. Good condition as shown- appears to be missing one set of shutter from one side and part of a shutter on the other. Otherwise fine. Kernel carving has a long history in China. But it was unclear about when it originated from; its earliest record was in the Song Dynasty, more than 1000 years ago. Carving of this quality disappeared at the end of the 20th Century. An antique Qing Dynasty engraved brass Opium pipe. 10.5" tall. Condition is good. And only showing the usual minor signs of age, use and wear. Possibly originally with a silver finish. The seam, on the pipe stem where it curves, has slightly opened up underneath. Weight of 360 grams. Pipe appears complete(please see all photographs) with the exception of the chain(missing) Overall nicely engraved in detail. One side has an engraved scene displaying plants in flower, containers and a low table. The other side engraved with a bird in flight and a tree panda. The piece is 3 ¼ inches long, 2 inches high and 1 7/8 inches wide. It has a handle on it in the shape of an animal or possibly a qilong. The eyes and the tail are evident. WELCOME TO MY PAGE UP FOR AUCTION: ANTIQUE BLUE& WHITE CHINESE PORCELAIN PRUNUS BLOSSOMS JAR KANGXI MARK LATE QING PERIOD NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVE The featured item represents an antique Chinese porcelain jar with ovoid shape that measures approximately 4 3/4" tall. 2" in diameter at the lips and 3 1/2" at the bottom. The jar is decorated with underglazed finely hand painted white prunus blossoms on dark blue ground. The pattern is a Chinese symbol for the ending of the winter and an announcement of spring. The bottom fbears a blue underglaze double ring Kangxi mark. Although the piece bears a Kangxi mark I believe it was actually crafted during the late Qing dynasty. Possibly the Guangxu reign or a bit earlier. The item comes in overall good vintage condition for its age. The inside shows quite of crackles(shown ... moreon photo#5) but that does not reflect on the appearance of the jar. Normal wear on the foot rim with some natural flaws on the bottom. The blue glaze has some small holes throughout(like on photo#4) Not sure if they were caused during the firing process or they appeared with the time. The biggest is probably about 2 millimeters.
