Rare Size Antique Chinese Export /Canton Blue & White Syllabub Cup and 2 Lids
Rare 19th Century Blue and White Canton Chinese Export Syllabub Cup and Lid with extra bonus second lid. This is a fabulous find and to be in such great condition for its Antique age. The footed cup has a twisted strap handle and a wonderful berry finial motif on lid. It has a gorgeous and pleasing motif and Chinese Scenic detail. It has a great glaze and the beauty of the deep blue color is a sight to behold. It has a very slight flake on the edge of the lid hardly noticeable and a small chip and small hairline on the inside rim of cup. All in All it does not detract from it's beauty. SCROLL DOWN FOR PICTURES(35 pictures below) This auction is for an antique Qing Dynasty Chinese Kernel Carving made from an Olive Nut(also called an Olive Stone) Together with its base. It is engraved with a micro poem on the base. About 44 mm long. Qing Dynasty. It is carved with 28 human faces. Opening shutters, and about 104 Chinese characters. In the olive nut engraving. There are two ladies sitting and drinking in the front of the boat-shaped olive nut, with 2 servants standing behind them. Both sides of the cabin are carved with 4 windows, one on each side has shutters which can be opened and closed easily(one is missing one shutter and the other is missing part of a shutter) There are 6 people viewing the moon on the top, and two more on each side looking out of two upper windows, two people by the rear window, and two people standing ... morein the middle, and two more at the back end. Good condition as shown- appears to be missing one set of shutter from one side and part of a shutter on the other. Otherwise fine. Kernel carving has a long history in China. But it was unclear about when it originated from; its earliest record was in the Song Dynasty, more than 1000 years ago. Carving of this quality disappeared at the end of the 20th Century. This superb Antique Chinese Canton faux ivory ox bone napkin ring is in perfect original undamaged condition and dates from the Guangxu period 1871-1908. Please be aware that this one of a pair that I am selling individually. The quality of the carving and piercing around the rim is very fine. It depicts men in a garden setting with pine trees. Willow, and rockwork. There is a central medallion which is uninscribed that could house a families initials or monogram. The graining and cross hatching of the ox bone is superb. Pair of Antique Chinese Brass Silk Irons Up for auction is a beautiful pair of antique Chinese coal-heated brass silk irons. They measure 9" long by 4-1/2" wide by 3-1/4" high. The brass bowls have graceful lotus-shaped rims and are embossed with a series of Lu characters against an allover geometric pattern. The handles are unusual and exceptionally fine. they are carved oxbone or similar. The handles can be removed from their holders. One is carved with a four-toed dragon circling the handle. The other depicts a woman carrying a long branch with a hanging basket that is presumably filled with silkworms. A small person is at her side and pine trees and branches frame the scene. 2 Antique Leaf Shaped Chinese Canton Dishes. Landscape Painting, Blue& White Presented is a pair of two antique leaf shaped Chinese Canton dishes. One dish is slightly larger than the other. The decoration of the larger dish is a slightly lighter shade of blue than the smaller one. Both dishes depict a land-and-seascape with buildings. Trees, boats/ships and an island. The decoration and perspective is very well done. They are similar designs but not identical. The larger dish has a star detail to the border which gives it a quilted effect. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The dishes were made in China in the mid 1800s. The smaller of the two dishes is in great shape. There is a tiny flaw or flake which does not show much as it is against the darkness of a tree. This may have occurred in manufacture. Otherwise there are no chips. ... moreNo cracks, no crazing, and no other problems of any kind. The larger dish has a 19.05 mm chip to the stem of the leaf. This is indicated in our photographs. The larger one also has eight flea bites or flakes to the glaze of the rim. They are hardly visible. Otherwise. There are no other chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no other problems of any kind. At one time there was tape around the bases' edges to protect a table surface. There is a little residue from the tape but this will come off easily. Both in the front and back of the screen, is the imperial five toed dragon chasing the glowing flaming pearl. When that owner passed away sometime in the last two decades. This magnificent artifact stood idle in a building owned by the deceased that was closed down, possibly due to an estate fight. Two beautifully carved Chinese hardwood lids for ginger jars from the estate of a major and well-known Asian arts collector. Both have damage. The lid on the right has an outside diameter of 4 1/8" and and inside diameter of 3 3/8" It's 2" tall to the top of the finial. It has a spot of loss seen in the 6th photo. And both sides of the bottom rim have been glued. The lid on the right is much darker wood and is stamped CHINA in the wood. I believe willow tree, with some mountains in the back round and what might appear to be a small village. Both cups were purchased at a high end antique auction house in central Florida. The condition is very nice. With the exception of a small fleabite chip out of the bottom rim of one of the cups. For auction is this fantastic and rare pair of antique Chinese cow bone hair brush or mirror blanks. These were made to be carved and exported to the West. In very good condition with a few minor marks and splits but no chips. Please look at all the pictures as they form an important part of the description. These have nice graining and patination. They measure 25cm long and 7cm at the widest part. They are approx. 1cm deep and weigh 323 grams together. International bidders- please note the postage cost does not include insurance. Two ANTIQUE CHINESE rectangular porcelain plaques decorated with images of four of the eight immortals in famille rose palette. The first plaque painted with the figure of the lady immortal: He Xian Gu dressed in long robes holding up a lotus flower with long stalk. Up for auction is a 19th century ceramic"Siamese" gambling token. Gambling tokens become common currency from the early 19th century until 1870. The Chinese gambling houses in the Thai capital. Bangkok, produced ceramic tokens for use as counters. During the same period there was a shortage of silver metal for coins, and cowrie shells(a traditional form of money) were losing their value as currency. As a result the ceramic gambling tokens began to be used as everyday small change within the city. The onus of redeeming the tokens rested with gambling houses, who tried to pre-empt forgeries by frequently changing the design of the tokens. This octogan token is approximately 23mm in diameter. This auction is for a rare pair of antique Chinese Export Brown Fitzhugh Garden Stools. They are painted with the four season flowers and an eagle holding branched and arrows plus a shield with initials. There are no repairs and no damage noted; there is however minor gold gilt wear to the nubs on both garden stools. I have a few arrows to show some of the wear. Also there is a wasp nest in one that I will remove when sold as well as a spider nest on the other.
