THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN DRESSED ACCORDINGLY. THE WOOD WAS PRETTY MUCH DESTROYED BY INSECTS TO THE POINT OF CRUMBLING. THIS HAPPENS IN VERY WARM HUMID CLIMATES, GHOA HAVING SUCH A CLIMATE. LATE 19th CENTURY Height: 8 1/4" Width: 3" Depth: 2" Weight: 2 lbs 11 oz This is a RARE and completely UNIQUE carving from late 19th century Angola- Angola is a country in southwestern Africa. Portugal traded with/ruled the region since the 15th century. The unique feature of this artifact is simple: it was carved from STONE not wood. RARELY do STONE statues surface on the western market. As MOST are WOOD. Carved from a very dense stone. All from the initial collection(soon to be listed on this site) are from the same, very old collector: the style, format of the statue, facial/body details, hair/back, base strongly suggest the same artist did all. This carving shows a sitting male with beautiful braided hair. Holding his chin with his left hand. The expression is one of thoughtful ... moredecision-thinking through a situation, as it were. This authentic antique mid to late 19th Century Russian Orthodox Icon of the Mother of God of Three Hands would make a perfect addition to your collection. This highly revered icon of the Most Holy Theotokos would display beautifully on a wall or shelf. 19th Century Vienna Regulator movement with dial, great hands, nice early
Very fine Austrian one weight Vienna regulator movement with original dial and hands. This is a very fine movement. Earlier and finer than the later German clocks. The dial is in excellent condition, signed H Mechlowichz, Wein. The bezel is perfect with a nice patina. The movement is complete, should only need cleaning. The hands are very fine old Vienna hands. It has been untouched, no signs of bad repair, etc. Overall this is a very fine movement, great for restoring to put in that fine case. Thanks for looking!

Antique China Head Doll Leather Hands, Cloth Body 19th Century
This beautiful doll measures aprox 21.5" long. Her head is china. Hands are leather and body is cloth. Not sure of exact age or country of origin but research leads me to believe she may be from Germany 1850s-1870s. Do not know if clothing is orginal but it is certainly old and very detailed. Bloomers, petticoat, lace dress with underlining, lace gloves and kid shoes that I beliieve are original. I have not removed clothing as it is very delicate. Limbs appear to be in good condition under clothes by feel. Lace has some small tears near top of bodice(see photos) There are also a couple of tiny chips in hair(see photos) All in all, she is in wonderful condition for her age. Wooden Torches with Leather Flames Held by Carved Hands, Masonic 19th Century
Lifesize disembodied torch-wielding hands. Wooden with leather flames, c. 19th century. Like fraternal in origin, probably Odd Fellows or Masons. The torches are painted gold, the flames orange and yellow with traces of sparkling mica. Each fiery tendril is made of thin leather wrapped around cotton wadding. The hands are both rights, and are carved from a dark wood, possibly walnut. The pair perhaps originally flanked a doorway or a piece of furniture, and today could easily be mounted on a wall. Good condition, with some wear to paint and chipping of leather. A stunning pair ready to add some drama to your doorway or wall. This is a set of hands(measuring and setting) for a 19th century(1800s) English wheel(or banjo) barometer. The hands are in good condition. The set including both hands necessary for reading a barometer. The smaller hand has an overall length of 3 3/4" The mounting hole has a diameter just shy of 1/4" It has an early soldier repair visible on the reverse. The larger hand has an overall length of 5 3/8" The mounting hole has a diameter just over 1/16" There's a bit of glue that appears on the reverse of the tail. It's not a repair.
