Early Life She was born to a Maharashtrian family at Kashi(now Varanasi) in the year 1828. During her childhood. She was called by the name Manikarnika. Affectionately, her family members called her Manu. At a tender age of four, she lost her mother. As a result, the responsibility of raising her fell upon her father. While pursuing studies, she also took formal training in martial arts, which included horse riding, shooting and fencing. However, the British rulers refused to accept him as the legal heir. As per the Doctrine of Lapse, Lord Dalhousie decided to seize the state of Jhansi. This is an exceptionally beautiful and perfect shivalingam stone. Which I acquired from a holy man at Pashupatinath in Kathmandu, the holy Hindu riverside temple complex where public cremations are held. The temple is dedicated to Shiva, the destroyer of evil. On a recent visit, I searched for these metallic sheen black stone lingams again and there were only a few to be acquired. They are rare these days and highly coveted by true believers. This is a beautiful about 4.5 inch long, old stone that is very heavy, cool to the touch and with great use polish. It is a heavy stone at 2 lbs. or 907 grams, which is almost semi-precious in quality. The micro-crystalline structure in these stones is so dense that it feels almost like one is holding a piece of metal, but it is indeed stone and accounts of spiritual calm and healing resulting from being ... morethe caretaker of such a sacred stone are many. The lingams of Nepal come from the sacred Gandaki River that is a Himalayan tributary near the source of the Ganges and they are most all black, unlike those in India that are found in the Narmada tributary. Antique WOOD chest from INDIA Excellent Condtion DECORATIVE BOX
This is a nicely- decorated wood box with iron hinges and clasps from India. As my picture shows. The pattern of the box on top and all around sides, front and back is a raised wood square design with gold-colored decoration in the center of each. It is VERY attractive. Hinges allow the top to open up. Although I am not an expert and cannot guarantee age or anything beyond my description, I know the box came from India in the 1990s and was represented to be an older item. My best guess personally is that it is sometime in the earlier 1900s but I simply don't know and realize it could be older. Size is approximately 12" x 15" standing just over 8" high. It is made of a wood with natural finish, probably just oiled or something. Condition is excellent- there is a little wear on it consistent with age but I see no damage of ... moreparticular note and don't believe it has been repaired or restored in any material sense. I don't know the use of the box but it seems pretty obvious that it was for valuables of some sort, most likely money or something although I suppose it is possible that it was used to store articles of some type that had special value or rarity. Given the possible uncertainty of how old the piece might be. A winning bidder may return the box to me for full refund of the purchase price, with buyer paying shipping costs, however, within a reasonable period(a week or two) if a buyer is dissatisfied for any reason.

This is a very nice little statue of a female figure. Presumably a goddess, which I understand to be from India. It is approximately 6 inches high, mounted on small painted black base which seems pretty obviously just added in the U.S. at some point. I have no real information about the figure other than the observation that it seems to be carved or cast from some sort of material that gives it a bit of hollow sound that is hard to describe. As the picture shows, there is a combination of darker and lighter area that looks like it was the result of handling or cleaning but I just cannot tell. The piece is complete and in very nice condition; I do note, however, with very careful looking that it appears the right arm was perhaps broken off and repaired by reattachment at the right shoulder and write(not easy to see but I think that is what ... morehas happened. I can't really say much more about this since I have no real information and cannot make any representations or guarantees beyond the fact that it comes from Asia some years ago and certainly looks like a nice item, whatever the details might be. A hexagonal foot, mouth and lid, and on each side of the chamber a raised tear drop motif. It has a decorative curved handle and a spout with a slight'S' shape. The body is unencumbered by motifs. It has a simple double line chased pattern around the raised tear drops in the center of the chamber of the ewer. Front and back, and around the neck. Antique Wooden Nandi Bull From India
This is a very old Nandi Bull from India. It is much larger than most I have seen. At 14" x 7" x 4" This is a beautiful folk art object, a conversation starter. The paint that is left is still vibrant. This bull may have had a base. At some point this might have come off. When I purchased it it already had felt on the foot bottoms for display in this fashion. One of the back legs is a bit shorter than the others but the bull is completely stable without it. Antique Indian Bidriware. Bidri, Silver Inlaid Circular Plate, Southern India Search This is a small antique Bidriware circular tashtari(plate) ornamented with two borders. Each being different. The circular slightly concave plate has a central rosette. Birds, floral motifs and vine creepers surround the rosette to the silver scrolling vine border. The plate has a mend from the original casting- as the inlay has not been disturbed and is complete on the surface over the mend. The plate has used the Tarkashi technique and Tehnishan technique. The silver inlay is basically intact and in excellent condition. From other similar examples I have seen this Bidriware plate probably dates from mid 19th to early 20th century.
