Vintage Antique Clothes Wringer - Hand Crank - Horse Shoe Brand # 352
Great vintage antique hand crank clothes wringer marked" 352- UNIVERSAL- HORSE SHOE BRAND- AMERICAN WRINGER CO. WOONSOCKET. R. I. The very clean rollers are 12" by 1 3/4" The crank turns freely as well as the tension screws for the rollers. The wood crank handle is not cracked or broken. Likewise, the securing clamps are not broken. There are not any broken or repaired parts. The overall size is 16" tall by 27" wide including the crank handle by 6" and the weight is 17 pounds. I believe this is from the early 1900's. Excellent operating condition but the wood finish is faded and worn from use. Item is described and shown as best I can. The print on the front of the wringer reads" Warrantied 3 years for family use" The back has a trade mark, a tested and approved stamp from Good Housekeeping, and a manufacturer stamp. The wringer shows appropriate wear and tear for its age. The rollers do show signs of cracking- I believe due from age. There is a rivet missing from the right side of the roller housing. The sides have Trade Mark with the horse show and I think AWC inside the horse shoe. I can read Extra High Grade Warranted. Oil The Crank Journal, No. 350. See photos. It was found at a local flea market so I don't know any history or specific age. I would describe it as being in fair vintage condition. All solid but it is showing its wear and history. American Wringer Company This is an American Wringer Company clothing wringer which is made of wood with metal hardware. Not including the hardware the wooden frame measures 13 1/2" tall and 12 1/2" wide. The iron crank arm protrudes 14 1/2" to 15" off the side. For a total of 26-27" wide. The hardware keys on the top are around 3" tall. The wringer was probably well used in its day and the wood has a nice color to it from its age. The hardware has surface rust on some places as you can see in the photos. And there is also rust on some screws which hold the wooden bars together but nothing looks corroded to the point of breakage. The wooden rollers have some nicks in the wood. None larger than around 1/4" The wringer works. Crank turns and rollers turn as they should.
