Antique Vintage Triptych Stickley era Hermann Kaulbach - Hanfstaengl 1902 Prints
Up for auction is my very old Stickley era frame with triptych prints by the artist Hermann Kaulbach and the prints were made by Franz Hanfstaengl(according to the markings on the prints) The center print is marked but I have not pulled out the two smaller prints. The center print is marked made in Germany Copyright date 1902 with what appears to say Franz Hanfstaengl but part of the last name was trimmed off. Apparently at least the center print has been trimmed. I am not sure about the smaller prints. The center print measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide by 10 inches tall. The two smaller prints measure 4 1/2 wide by 11 1/2 tall. The frame is made of oak and is in great condition with minor scratches(please see the attached pictures for a more accurate detail) The glass appears to be original with that old wavy look that it should ... morehave. I am not sure if the prints are original to the frame. The center picture has a small piece of oak trim added to the top of the picture. The pictures are secured to the frame with the old square nail/tacks and appear to be of the age of the prints and the frame. It is a great looking Triptych picture and would make a great addition to any collection. Marvelous Cherry Blossom Triptych This wonderful triptych is by Hashimoto Chikanobu(Japanese. 1838-1912) one of the great ukiyo-e artists of the Meiji Era(1868-1912) It is his striking Tying a Poem Slip to a Cherry Tree. Chikanobu was from a distinguished samurai family and fought in support of the Tokugawa shogunate against the forces of the Emperor Meiji. As a youth he studied under both Kuniyoshi and Kunichika. Though he designed many warrior and kabuki prints. He is perhaps best known for his marvelous bijin-ga. Or beauty portraits. Such as in this wonderful triptych. Without a doubt, Utamaro(Japanese, c. 1750-1806) is one of the most famous of all Japanese artists of the Edo Period. His classic portraits of courtesans. Geishas and teahouse waitresses are among the most sought after of all prints. In fact, many serious collectors consider Utamaro’s beauties to be the very soul of ukiyo. The art of the Floating World. The title of this marvelous triptych is Picnic by a Stream. This is a triptych. A three-panel scene. In the left panel three young women cross an arched bridge over a little stream to join their friends for a summer picnic in the countryside. In the center panel, two women turn to greet the new arrivals while the third pours a cup of tea. A girl in the right panel holds ... morea toy boat. To her right another joyously raises her goblet. Antique Watanabe Nobukazu Sino-Japanese war triptych woodblock framed 1894
This framed Japanese woodblock was made by Watanabe Nobukazu in 1894. The print is titled“Our Forces Great Victory and Occupation of Jiuliancheng” The print itself is 27 inches wide by 14 inches high. It is in a gilded frame that is 35 ½ by 22 inches. This is an original period woodblock. We are not certain. But this may have had margins on the sides and bottom. If so, it has been cut down. There are no tears or stains. We have not had the print out of the frame and do not know how it is attached to the backing.

A Japanese sailor breaks open a chest with the butt of his rifle. While his fellows grab two Chinese sailors, two other Chinese are hogtied on the deck, and another Chinese man falls overboard, with a smokey battle raging in the distance. One translation that has been given for this image is"Japanese Military Might Captures Pyongyang" Original color woodblock on paper, 1894. Each of the three panels measures about 10 x 13 inches. Unmounted, and probably never framed sheets.

Attention all Circus Fans! You are bidding on one very cool. Very nice print celebrating the famed clown, Emmett Kelly. This print is a triptych lithograph, signed by the artist, Barry Leighton-Jones AND signed by Emmett Kelly's widow, Evi Kelly. It is numbered 3564/9900. It was produced in 1989. This print itself is in good condition. It does have two spots on it on the third panel. Both are on the white part. Not on the print area. One spot is on the very top on above the night sky, and the other is on the very bottom, just under the end of Leighton-Jones' signature. Both signatures are in good shape. The first and last panels show life at the circus with clowns. Animals, trapeze artists and more. The center has Emmett Kelly, in his signature sad face holding a broom. Below the middle panel is a gold raised seal that says, Emmett ... moreKelly Commemorative Edition. The matte around the print has a few slight marks but is in pretty good shape. Unfortunately. The glass was broken on this frame so it has had a piece of plastic over it to protect it. You would have to replace the glass. The good part is it will make it much easier to ship. The gold frame around the print does have some scuffs and scratches and would need a touch-up. The back of the piece does have torn brown paper. There is also a moisture mark on the paper, but it did not go any further. The cardboard behind the paper is fine. Stamped on the back is the 1989 copyright stamp from Shanier Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Framed, it measures about 23.5" x 20.75" If you're a circus or clown buff. This is a beautiful print. The colors are vibrant and the print is definitely collectible. Please make sure to look at all of the pictures and read the description. I always try to photograph the good and not so good so you know exactly what you're bidding on. This is an absolutely stunning. Very rare, huge, measuring 21" in height& width, Italian gilt Florentine gilt wood religious icon. This was hand made in Italy and is very old, the scenes were applied and then hand painted with a gold leaf. The icon is in triptych style but doesn't have doors. I have collected hundreds of Italian icons over the years and have never seen another one like it. The center picture is the Virgin Mary and Child, the side have archangels.
