Vintage White Shrine of Jerusalem Holman Bible King James Version 1009 W S of J
A very nice Bible with original box and craft paper wrapping. King James version by Holman Bibles with white faux leather cover. This Bible has never been read or even opened. The front cover hinge does show the beginnings of a full length crease, as this hinge was probably fully opened while a gift inscription was recorded on the presentation page, dated 1938, in blue ink in legible, stylized cursive with a fountain pen. Bible edges are gold gilt and ribbon marker is fresh. I did not show a picture of the inside of the Bible simply because the book has never been fully opened except for the initial inscription and preservation of the Bible's condition was important to me. I'll let the buyer use proper technique to open the book. Hinges are stiff and strong. Binding is tight as like new.

The Famous Daijingu Shrine This appealing design is by one of the greatest. And most famous, of all the incredible Japanese ukiyo-e artists. Ando Hiroshige(Japanese, 1797-1858) The title of this splendid image is Htiachi Province. Daijingu Shrine in Kashima. It is from Hiroshige’s breathtaking series Famous Views of the 60-Odd Provinces and was published by Senkakudo in 1905. Over 110 years ago. Prints from this edition were reproduced in such detail and have aged with such a beautiful patina that they are often mistaken for originals. They are, without a doubt, among the finest reprints ever made of this incredible series. Consequently, they are eagerly sought after by serious collectors. This lovely landscape is the shoreline of Lake Kita at Kashima. Kashima is the location of the Daijingu Shrine. Dedicated to the deity Takemikazuchi, the ... moregod of military prowess. A torii gate in the water marks the entrance to the shrine. Pilgrims would often arrived by boat from Edo- several boats are shown on the waters of Lake Kita bringing visitors to the shrine. A marvelous print with wonderful soft color and fine detail. This print would be a superb choice for any collector. It is truly a classic image from the golden age of ukiyo-e. It was made from recarved wooden blocks using exactly the same technique– and with the same excellent detail and rich color– as the original. Stunning Goyo Studio Restrike c. 1920 This marvelous design is by one of the greatest. And most famous, of all the wonderful Japanese ukiyo-e artists, Ando Hiroshige(Japanese, 1797-1858) In 1832. Hiroshige traveled the length of the Tōkaidō, the eastern coastal road linking the shogun’s capital Edo. Now present-day Tokyo. With the imperial capital in Kyoto. He was part of an official delegation transporting horses that were to be presented to the imperial court. The horses were a symbolic gift from the shogun and were presented annually in recognition of the Emperor's divine status. After he returned to Edo, he began his most celebrated series, The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō. Working from sketches he made during this trip. This image is from that series. Originally painted c. 1833-1834. This particular restrike was published ... moreby the famous Goyo Studio and was made c. 1920. Goyo’s restrikes are considered to be among the finest ever made. His red rectangular seal is on the lower left outer margin. This image is a religious festival at the shrine of Atsuta at Station 42, Miya. The ceremony involves two teams of men dragging a festival carts, not shown in the image, past the entrance to the shrine. This shrine was one of the most important shrines in the country because it held one of the three divine symbols of the Japanese imperial throne. The city of Nagoya grew up around the shrine. ESTATE: Although I don't know much about sewing. The minute I saw this amazing artwork I knew it was something special! Produced sometime around the turn of the twentieth century, perhaps for the 1893 Columbus Exposition in Chicago) the extraordinary detail captured in this freestyle-sewn textile initially resembles a photograph or realistic painting.until you get up close. The entire piece of art is made up of intricately placed stitches using silver(white) bronze and gold threads in various gradations of tone.there are no paints! Because of the silk threads the art changes depending upon the angle upon which it is viewed. Look at the gate tops change from bronze to silver in photos#1, 2, 4 and#5 depending upon the viewers perspective! This is such a complex piece of art it is impossible to illustrate in photos. I have seen lovely stitching ... moreand embroidery on period Kimono's. And perhaps because it was prepared simply as a piece of art, this appears far superior. The only Japanese fine art needlework I have found of similar creativity and quality were part of an Ashmolean Museum exhibit, England) entitled"Threads of Silk& Gold" The subject matter is the Shinto shrine at Itsukushima. The colors are basically white(or silver) Gold and bronze against a mauve silk background. From what I have been able to gather this type of Japanese fine art textile is fragile which is why there are few left outside of museums. Even though, from what I understand, this particular piece has been stored under a bed for the past 50 years it also shows its age. There are a couple of minor thread pulls, some damage to the silk background(not extending into the live image area) and some staining of the fabric matte. This is a vintage pre-linen post card. Postally unused, circa 1920s- 1940s. Card shows the A.A. O. N.M.S. Mosque or Crescent Shrine Temple. Trenton, New Jersey. Card is a Genuine Curteich-Chicago C.T. American Art Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. for Lynn H. Boyer. Philadelphia, PA, and Wildwood New Jersey. The overall condition is good. This plate is 9" in diameter. Plate reads: St. Joseph Shrine. Irish Hills, Brooklyn, Mich. in the center around a picture of the Crucifixion Group. There are five scenes around the edge of this center picture: 1. St. Martin Statue 2. Sanctuary 3. St. Josph Statue 4. St. Patrick Statue 5. Crucifixion Group Colors are nice and vivid. No chips or cracks. Very very very minor scratch on the center picture visible only if you hold it a certain way in the light. I could not photograph this scratch even using the zoom. However. You will see what appear to be scratches or cracks in the blue sky area of the surrounding pictures. These are not scratches or cracks, but appear to be wrinkles from the manufacturing process of applying the transfer. They show up in the pictures worse than if you saw the plate. A pair of sake or altar vases for a shinto shrine, of garlic head bottle form with long cylindrical necks and oval bodies, the glaze of white tones with some discolouration(possibly smoke or incense) and one of the pair with an incised mark- DAIO and the reverse with a simple depiction of mountains and clouds in the Nanga painting style. Bases unmarked. Probably Seto ware. When used as a sake set it would make sense to have one marked and one unmarked to clarify which was being used while the other was being warmed, and in a better class of establishment, two bottles might be served at once, one hotter than the other. You are bidding on a 50+ year old Manon Shrine.965-inch 5mm Huygens. This eyepiece is VERY densely built; constructed of solid brass and then chrome coated and painted. This came from my personal Manon 60mm refractor and I strongly suggest this ocular is from Carton Optical Company of the same years; it was original to the telescope. Oculars going back this far and being either Ramsdens or Huygens cannot be considered junk because this was about all that was available at the time. For being an antique. It is in great condition. Optical performance with this eyepiece is okay. But it isn't going to slap any orthos or plossls around. Eye relief is tight, but like I said, this was high-quality back then. Placed on red velvet, placed in an oval-shaped silver theca, surrounded by filigree silver spiral decorations, is the precious relic, fixed to the document, sealed with the red wax seal of Cardinal Constantine Patrizi, Vistor General of His Holiness Pope Gregory XVI, with the threads intact.
