I will be listing a very extensive Japanese woodblock print collection in the upcoming week. All are from the same estate collection and are fresh to the market. Many rare woodblock prints including many Shin Hanga era prints and earlier woodblocks by famous artists. Please see my auctions for the entire collection. Up for auction is an original antique Ando Hiroshige Japanese woodblock print dating from the late 1800's. The woodblock is titled" Snow Scene at the Shrine of Benzaiten in the Pond at Inokashira" and is from the Snow. Moon and Flowers at Famous Places series. Has the publisher and artists mark as seen in the photos. Image has awesome detail and very nice color. Overall condition is very nice for its age. No rips. The reverse side of the poster reveals that this was originally printed to be sent in the mail, and requests it to be displayed by businesses. Antique Religious Military Jesus Pocket Shrine Icon Brass Case Soldier WW1 Era
Up for auction is a very old vintage. Antique, religious Sacred Heart of Jesus miniature pocket shine in a brass case. It is very rare. The small brass case slides open to reveal the fully detailed Sacred Heart of Jesus icon that appears to be made out of a cast metal- most likely, lead. It is a very dark silver metal. The icon measures just a little over 1" in height when the case is closed. These miniature pocket shrines are often associated with Catholic soldiers who carried them for protection during war times. These pocket shrines are incredibly difficult to find and are truly a rare treasure. I have seen these before with St. Joseph, St. Anthony, and Mary but never one with a statue of Jesus. PLEASE NOTE that the statue of Jesus is damaged on the base. I really didn't even notice this until I looked at it today. Hi. I'm listing a vintage metal cast of the Basilica of the NATIONAL SHRINE OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION in WASHINGTON. DC. It's approx. 5" tall, I used a tape measure and the contour is approx.17"It's very detailed and has a lot of important religious historical significance. It is the largest Catholic Church in the US and one of four of the largest Catholic Churches in the world. Be very careful as the felt came off of the bottom and on the inside there is one jagged piece of metal on the inside. This was cast by SILBURNE and BUSH METAL. Antique ABacker ? 30s Infant Jesus of Prague Chalkware Religious Shrine Figurine
For your consideration is this fabulous antique chalkware shrine dedicated to The Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague. It is somewhat difficult to see but I believe the date on the side to be 1934. It is also marked what looks to be A.B.C. which I think is for Alexander Backer Chalkware but I am just not sure; I am hardly an expert. This piece measures approximately 16 1/2" high x 8" long x 6 1/2" deep(from back to front of candle chalkware base. Overall this is in very nice shape for age but please note: There is a chip on the front of the chalkware near where candle sits; please see pics; as well as a few other small minor chips/ scuffs including at top on face as well as at point there is some rubbing here. Miscellaneous rubs here& there on the chalkware from past love& use and age; adds to the piece to me but please ... morenote them. The date on the side looks to be 1934 and for that age it looks pretty nice to me considering but I am no expert so please see all pics. There are also some light scuffs on the back here and there. Candle cup has some dirt on it including some wax residue at bottom as well as metal ends from past candles that have been burnt years ago. I have not cleaned this in any way. Piece is marked what looks to be copyright A.B.C. so I think this may be a Alexander Backer piece but I am just not sure. Again. Please see pics.
