The modern-day African and Asian elephants belong to the order Proboscidea. In the past there were some 350 ... moremembers in this order. But over time the majority of the members succumbed to extinction. Today, there are only two final survivors to this order, Elephas maximus(Asian el ephant) and Loxodonta africana(African elephant) But. Burma also has the second largest number of wild elephants and the largest remaining areas of natural elephant habitat and for these reason the country will probably play a key role if wild elephants are going to survive in Asia in the future. It measures only 3.1 inches tall and 1 and 7/16th wide when closed and 3 1/4 when open. Buddha with rays above and an animal below him is standing on an intricately carved platform. He is magnificently attired from which some of the gilt has worn off over the years. This 1800's temple from the Meiji period was carried by a traveling monk for prayers. It is in excellent condition.

Grateful Dead "The Shrine Auditorium" 2 CD Numbered Silk Lined Boxed Set
This rare 2 disc set covers The Grateful Dead's appearance at the Shrine Auditorium in LA from 11-10 to 11-11 0f 1967. It comes in a VERY nice fabric and silk lined box with high quality disc sleeves. A nice little booklet describing the event and a certificate of guarantee, numbered 1068. I have to admit, I'm not up on this particular concert, but it must have been something to warrant such special handcrafted packaging. This piece comes from a large estate of 60's music. With an emphasis on The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and many other similar artists that should appeal to any fan of the era. None of these pieces are particularly new but they were definitely cared for well enough and truly loved. Check back often as new listings will be added on a fairly regular basis.

Jesus on Crucifix Wood and Glass Mirror Devotional Shrine Votive Candle Holder
Up for sale is a Devotional Shrine/Votive Candle Holder featuring a Crucifix with Jesus. It was owned by my grandmother. I am not sure how old it is but I suspect it is pre-Vatican II, probably early or middle 20th century. The body of the shrine is made of wood with glass mirror coverings, a metal Jesus, and metal feet on the base. It measures about 13 ¼ inches tall by 9 inches wide by 5 inches deep. The shrine shows a little wear and scuffing. Jesus has a mark down his chest, it is either a fine crack(I can't feel it with my finger) or a pencil/pen mark. Two of the mirrors have become unglued, one on the base and the one on the horizontal part of the cross. The arms are keeping the horizontal mirror on but I will take it off and bubble wrap it separately for shipping. The shrine comes with an old votive candle in holder, I do not ... moreknow if it is the original. There is a second hole in the back, I am guessing to hold a bottle of holy water, but there is currently a bottle with an Abraham Lincoln Foods Inc cap stuck tight in the hole. Early 20th Century Chinese Carved Shrine Pagoda Tower 41" Tall Fine Condition Feast your eyes on this Exquisite Rare Early 20th Century Chinese Carved Shrine Pagoda Tower. Standing 41” tall, in two pieces which can be separated for unique display. Weighs approximately 20 pounds. Fine Museum Quality. This Vintage Chinese piece is intricately carved bovine bone with detailed walls and the gallery has an fluted roof adorned with carved detailing. There are three large figures carved at the centre of the room and the pagoda stands within fenced stylised garden with an intricately carved gateway that encloses a group of carved figures. Carrying ceremonial fans and batons. The Pagoda Tower sits on a bone base and features multiple carved detailing throughout. Approximately 41" Tall overall. The Pagoda top is 12½" The Base is ... more28½" high and measures 8½" x 6½" at the bottom, 8½" x 10½" at its widest point.
