Twelve full books of front strike matches from Bishop Cafeterias. Inside of the cover is the list of towns where the cafes were. Lincoln and Omaha Nebraska- Des Moines. Charles Thomas Abraham(1857-1945) Was the second in Suffragan Bishop of Derby from 1909 to 1927. Born in 1857. He was educated at Keble College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1881 and began his career with a curacy at St. Mary's, Shrewsbury and subsequently appointed vicar of All Saints, Shrewsbury 1885 and vicar of Christ Church, Lichfield in 1889. In 1909 he was consecrated Bishop Suffragan of Derby. His Father. Charles and his son Philip were also Bishops. In fact. This auction is for a Lovely Antique White Ironstone Teapot made by Powell& Bishop of Hanley. England circa 1867. It is in Very Good Condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs of stains in the pot or the lid with the exception of a very small manufacturing flaw that appears to be under the glaze in the very inside of the pot's lid seat(last photo) It it hard to spot and can only be seen when the lid is off. The ironstone is white and the glaze clear and glossy throughout. There pot is beautiful in its simple. Utilitarian design with no embossing or molding other than a small raised diamond design on the lid handle. The pot measures about 9 inches tall to the top of the lid. This is just a gorgeous Antique Pitcher as you can see by the photos. I believe this type of decorated earthenware piece is call Transferware and that they used transfers to apply the design onto porcelain china or Ironstone pottery. It is so beautiful with many differennt vibrant colors and types of flowers. The handle has an oriental or bamboo design. On bottom is an impressed mark that looks like a B and a Triangle and Circle plus a blue logo of an Oriental Man sitting with an umbrella that has the words“ORIENTAL IVORIE” with a Y*I believe these are the marks of Powell Bishop& Stonier or PB&S from the late 1880’s. This Pitcher measures just over 6 inches tall. Condition is Excellent with no Crack or Chips although much of the Blue painted or applied rim on top and the handle has chipped off. Otherwise there is an area of wear along ... morethe side where one of the flower transfers rubbed off plus some crazing along the bottom. All in all. A nice antique piece. Set of five vintage photo printing plates used at a Chicago newspaper circa 1960. Images include a Catholic bishop. Food/a picnic, football players, men dumping fish out of a garbage can, and a restaurant interior. All plates are in good vintage condition with some small scratches and signs of use. I tested the plates and they can be used to print very effectively using a stamping method or when run through a roller press. The largest stamp is 9" x 5.5" and the smallest is 7.25" x 4.5. Staffordshire, opened in 1867 and closed in 1878. Up for auction is a 12 1/4" tall x 8 1/2" white ironstone pitcher, measured from spout to handle. It is in factory mint condition, having no chips, cracks or repairs. I do see several minute factory glaze pinholes and pimples, mentioned for accuracy.
