Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Brown Aesthetic Transferware Butter Pat GARFIELD ~ WILD ROSE Wallis Gimson ~ Staffordshire England c. 1885 ... moreNo better way to say“I love you” than this stunning transferware wild rose butter pat love token. Originally part of a complete dinner service. The tiny octagonal dish with rounded corners measures 2 7/8" in diameter. The color is a rich sepia brown. Imaginatively stylized. The dish is decorated with a huge assymetrical transfer printed naturalistic Japanesque motif with a wild rose in the center and a geometric half sun rim. The pattern is a beautiful example of the Victorian love of nature and a fantastic token of affection. The pattern name is GARFIELD. Made by Wallis Gimson in the Staffordshire district of England. It is marked with the initials L.S.S. the trademark of Gimson's retailer Levi Strauss& Sons, and a registration number dating the pattern to the year 1885. The dish is clean. Shiny, and bright, with no chips, cracks or repairs. Typical Victorian era flaws from the making process, transfer skips and the like. This tiny dish is extremely attractive- a pocket size work or art- and will make a fine addition to any Aesthetic transferware or butter tray collection, or mix and match it with chintz and toile China or Art Deco wares. Take a look at the other Aesthetic movement transferware we have listed this week. We are always happy to combine shipping of multiple purchases. Antique Aesthetic Movement Brown Transferware E.M. & Co Sugar/Creamer! SUPER!
This auction is for a very very old British transferware Aesthetic Movement cream and sugar. The mark intrigued me with the dog and the E.M. Co. banner plus the old registration mark. The sugar is about 6 1/4" in height and 5 1/2" from outside handle edge to outside handle edge. The handle on one side has. At one point, been groken and reglued and there is the common light staining and spotting associated with this very very old pottery. There is a line about 1/2" or so long in the middle of the piece right under the greek key type border. This line does go clear through to the inside and appears to be a spider on the inside of the piece. As collectors know, this piece can be soaked in 40% peroxide(beauty supply store, liquid only-not gel) and the staining will soak out. There is no other damage that we can so. The creamer ... morealso looks like the top of the handle has been broken, but I believe, after looking at both handles, that they were attached to the piece and maybe the attachment spot is just splitting a little. There are no chips or cracks on the creamer that I can see. The creamer is about 4 1/2" tall. The band of transferware depicts leaves and twigs as well as bird and gree key type borders with a wider border under the largest band of decoration that has half a flower and a leaf alternating completely around each piece. We will double box this set for shipment. Happy Bidding!

Brown Transferware Aesthetic Movement Gravy Boat English Reg No 1800's, Sailboat
This auction is for an English ironstone gravy boat decorated in a brown transferware pattern that features geometric designs and nature themes that were so popular during the aesthetic movement. Each side of the gravy boat has a water scene with cliffs or islands in the background and sailboats or possibly Oriental junks in the sea. These scenes are bordered by intricate floral/triangle/bamboo designs; and beneath the spout. On the front of the gravy boat, there are sprigs of flowers. The handle has a vertical pattern that resembles chains or beads. This piece measures approx. 4 and 1/2" high at the handle by 7 and 3/4" handle to spout by 2 and 5/8" wide. As noted, it is in good shape with the exception of overall crazing. The inside also has some very light crazing discoloration that I tried to highlight in a photo. The bottom ... moreis marked with an embossed English Registry Mark that is hard to read, but I believe it dates this item to the late 1800's. It still displays very well and is just a neat collectible piece of transferware. Thanks for looking. Please email any questions.

Brownfield & Sons Brown Aesthetic Transferware Wash Basin & Pitcher - SANGA
Antique Brownfield& Sons. England brown transferware wash basin and pitcher in the Sanga pattern. This piece is from the Aesthetic Movement with beautiful floral designs and interesting lines& forms. This movement was all about the appreciation of nature and travel to exotic lands during the Victorian period. The pitcher measures approx. 10" tall and the bowl measures approx. 15" diameter. PITCHER CONDITION- I see a faint hairline in the top inside of the pitcher. It measures about 1" long and does not go through. You cannot feel it if you run your hand over it. I did include in the photos. But it is very hard to see. I also see a line on the front of the pitcher in the center just above the leaf design. There is some"smudging" in the transfer on the handle from manufacture which is common in wares of this ... moretype. Transfer looks very good all over. Some light age crazing all over. I see No chips, cracks or repairs. WASH BASIN CONDITION- Does have some staining on the inside of the bowl as you can see from the picture. I also see a light scratch on the inside about 2" long. Some areas of transfer smudge here and there. There is also a rough area and some pitting( on the basin edge from years of use and/or storage. Transfer looks good with some areas of light wear all over. Age appropriate crazing as well. Marked and dated on bottom. However, I cannot read the date. I would put this around mid to late 1800's. Overall very good antique condition I try my best to find everything for description but please look at all my pictures and use the zoom and enlargement feature. As they are part of my description. In items this old please expect signs of age- nice addition to any collection! THE FINE PRINT- please read- I DO NOT ship out of the country. Sorry. 19th Century Brown Transferware Vase with Oriental Motif- Aesthetic Movement - A
This Transferware pitcher. Or vase, narrates a story of a man who turns a water bird into a beautiful woman. The first scene is of a water bird with long legs standing alone in the water. As you turn the pitcher, a man appears kneeling by the pond in front of the bird. In one hand he has a little box and in the other, two feathers. The third scene shows that the bird has turned into a beautiful woman whose kimono and posture resembles the bird’s. A swallow and other birds rise up behind her. The details on the handle and around the mouth are painted to resemble the weave of a basket. There are water plants and cherry blossoms painted on the neck and between the scenes. The shape of the vase is particular. It has a rounded bottom and a straight neck which flairs slightly outward. The handle is set almost at a right angle which counterbalances ... morethe roundness of the vase. There aren’t any signatures or stamps on the bottom of the pitcher. But given the form and motif of the vase, I would say it was made sometime in the 19th century during the Aesthetic Movement. Dimensions: Height: 7 ½” Diameter at top: 3”

Antique Braemar Brown & White Transferware Platter
I bought this platter in an antique store in Mohave Valley. AZ about 20 years ago because I liked it. It's been hanging on my dining room wall ever since. I know nothing about it's age. Someone told me it was transferware. It doesn't go with the decor in my home anymore, and I'm down-sizing, so it needs a new home. It has a few chips(see photos) but otherwise is in nice condition. There are two"stamps" on the bottom above the word"Braemar" one is a square with what looks like the number 16- the other is a bell with a mark I can't make out and the what looks like the letter"B" inside of it. It's oval shaped, measuring approximately 17.5 inches x 13 inches. Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions. Thanks for looking!
