Antique Christian Endeavor Lapel Pin
The International Society of Christian Endeavor was founded in 1881 to foster good character in youth. This is a very old lapel pin for this organization. It is a gold-tone pin with red. White, and gold enamel highlights on the front. It has the“CE” logo in gold on a field of white. Surrounded by the motto“For Christ and the Church” on a red border. It has the initials“W.E. stamped on the back. The pin is 3/8” in diameter. It has a heavy patina. There is some light scratching of the enamel on the front. But it’s only visible under magnification. VINTAGE CE CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR STICK PIN - PATENT DATE 1888 - STERLING SILVER?
This item is a vintage stick pin from Christian Endeavor- indicated by the CE logo. The CE group was associated with The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Which was founded in 1881 as a nondenominational evangelical society in order to promote sincere Christian lives among its members, to make them more effective in God's Kingdom, and to encourage Christian comradery and fellowship. The CE design of the stick pin appears to be unmarked sterling silver. And the pin(gold-washed? is twisted to secure the pin against clothing. There is a cap that fits tightly on the end of the pin. On the reverse of the CE is a patent date that appears to be 1888; therefore, this item dates to the very first decade of the organization's existence. There is not a manufacturer's mark, but there is very little room for such. The total ... morelength is approximately 2, and the CE measures approximately 3/8" in diameter. These two items are Christian Endeavor items. Based upon the use of the organization's CE logo. Christian Endeavor was associated with The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Which was founded in 1881 as a nondenominational evangelical society in order to promote sincere Christian lives among its members, to make them more effective in God's Kingdom, and to encourage Christian comradery and fellowship. The green pinback lapel pin was a membership pin for Intermediate Christian Endeavor. And the red pin is for membership in Junior Christian Endeavor. Measuring approximately 5/8" in diameter, the'intermediate' pin has the word INTERMEDIATE on a banner positioned across the CE logo. It is in very good condition. Christian Endeavor was associated with The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Which was founded in 1881 as a nondenominational evangelical society in order to promote sincere Christian lives among its members, to make them more effective in God's Kingdom, and to encourage Christian comradery and fellowship. One item is a pinback bar from a meeting or convention badge and is composed of gold-toned metal with an insert reading MEMBER. On the reverse. It has an attachment pin with hook-style closure and a similar device for attaching a meeting ribbon. The overall size of this pinback bar is approximately 2-1/2 x 1-1/16.
