Qing Dynasty, 18th century(1701-1800) Made of deer bone, finely carved in the form of a reclining oriental female, depicted wearing only shoes. Her left hand is supporting her head, while her right hand is making a communicative gesture. The roe deer bone has a glossy lustre with dark flecks, and is carved in two main sections, spliced together and held by bone pins. The left hand is also separately carved and spliced onto the arm. This measures 10.6 cm in length, and 2.2 cm in width. It weighs 27 grams. The condition is generally excellent, there are no chips and no repair, the bone has the patina of age. Please see images. Antique Chinese Pewter Elephant Altar Candlestick Maker Signed This early 19th century Chinese altar candlestick is in the form of a charming elephant with peking glass eyes was once converted to an electric lamp. It has many bent and missing parts. But is still a charming and exciting design. It is maker signed under the base, but I do not know the maker. A great piece of 18th or 19th century chinese sculpture, and well worth repairing. This piece is part of a collection of fine antique Chinese objects that we are presenting here in one sale. Made of shoushan stone. Finely carved in the form of a Buddhist lion, depicted in a crouching position with its haunches bent, its front foot rests on a brocaded ball, its curved body is incised fur running along its backbone with central releif plait terminating in a birfucated tail. The large head is incised with a spikey mane and a snarling expression with the mouth carved in openwork showing its teeth, with small eyes below bow-shaped eyebrows and large ears. The shoushan stone has a black tone, with red speckles visible on close inspection.
