Chinese Antique Table Screen Panel - Mother of Pearl Inlay - Fine - 19th Century
This is the central panel from a fine 19th century Chinese table screen. It no longer has the frame. It is finely inlaid with mother of pearl decorated with bats etc flying around a tree on a dark hardwood back. like rosewood or similar. There is a fair bit of the mother of pearl inlaid missing so it is sold as seen with no returns. Most the bits missing are on the tree section. Large 19th Century Chinese signed brass two handled censer with stand. Part of a small collection currently listed& recently acquired from a private estate. A heavy brass censer with character marks to base. Condition is very good with the usual age related surface use marks. It has not been cleaned or polished for many years. The two bamboo design side handles have both been soldered back on at some time in the past. One is still loose on one side but the whole censer can still be lifted& held using the handles, the deer finial has bent ears& it's horns are missing. Despite the handle repairs& slight losses to the finial it is still a very impresive piece of considerable size& stature. Beautiful shape& form& excellent patina to the metal. Famille Rose Chinese Porcelain Jar - Guangxu - 19th Century - Signed
You are bidding on a Famille Rose porcelain jar of Chinese origin. Most likely Guangxu(1875-1908) According to the red marking on the bottom of the jar this jar dates from 1875-1908. The Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The piece was purchased in Scotland in the 1970's. The jar has very nice incised enamelling and rich colors. There are four medallions with Chinese characters in red. The jar measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" There are no cracks or chips. The lip of the jar has two small glazed-over dints made before the piece was glazed and dates from the time of manufacturing. One of the earlier owners glued a protective felt to the bottom with rubber cement. I was able to remove most of the rubber cement easily. But there are still remnants on the unglazed foot, as seen in the photographs that can still be removed. There are a few ... morevery small frits on the foot rim that I only mention in order to give a complete and thorough description. The interior is clean. The rim edge of the lid is unglazed and displays some roughness due to kiln soot and use. The only wear on the paint appears on the red Chinese characters, probably an overglaze application. The dishes are all decorated with colorful flowers and have gilt rims. The set comes in a fitted gilt lacquer box with Peking glass ball finial on the cover. The set dates from the early to mid 19th Century with the center dish measuring ¾ of an inch deep by 5 + ½ inches diameter. You are bidding on a large late 19th century Chinese Cinnabar lacquer vase. Height 10.5 inches. Nice colouration. I have taken one photo with flash and one without so you can accurately assess it's tone. It has two areas of damage. One on the shoulder(see picture 7) and one where an impact has pushed in the surface of the vase(see photos 9 and 10) All the lacquer is still present so I have not attempted to push it back out from the inside. Antique Quin Dynesty vase or jar made into Lamp. 8 sided. 19th Century
This is an original Chinese jar or vase which was made into a Lamp many years ago.This is from the Quin dynesty or late 19th century. It has seperate nylon wrapped cords which is an indication of the old age. The jar is 8 sided and in multi enamel/biscuit colors.Birds and flowers stand out in relief. The sholders and base have Rui decor. The stand is made of decorative brass standing on 5 legs. There is a 4" piece which has been repaired over the years. See 3rd picture. The lamp is 23" tall to the top and vase or jar area is 12" It is apx. 8&1/2" wide. This is in mint condition. It is in good working condition. From a fine estate and lamp was purchased in New York years ago and brought to this area and I purchased it afew months ago at estate auction. It is all original and an outstanding lamp.
