Antique Metallic Thread Embroidered Wall Hanging Framed
This large embroidery is exquisite! I believe it to be French or Italian in origin. Measurements 32" tall and 25" wide. I had it re-matted and framed about 12 years ago. The person I purchased it from claimed it was made in the 1700s. When I had it reframed. I was told there was no reason not to believe that was the correct time period. I have not had that verified. There is a spot of damage in the upper right corner area(the black spot in the pictures) Not unheard of in a delicate. Intricate antique piece such as this. The glass is a special kind to protect from UV light. It was extremely difficult to take good photos of this amazing piece since there is so much reflection. It is breathtaking in person. I would date this purse to before 1940 but I'm not expert enough to know how much before. Metallic threads have a bronze or gold color but mostly have lost their luster and you can feel them more than see them. They all appear to be used older rolls and some look slightly dusty on the top but they are odor free. Most have large amounts of thread on them and have a band of white paper around them. Vintage 1970's India Sheer Purple Gauze Metallic Thread Jumpsuit Peacock Hippie
For your consideration. A gorgeous Indian jumpsuit from the 1970's. Made of slightly sheer cotton gauze, most of this piece is purple with silver metallic thread highlights. The yoke and waistline has an abstract peacock design in shades of purple and lavender, also with silver thread. The sleeves are gathered at the yoke. The harem style pants gather below the waist for a pleated look. There are hidden pockets at the waist. The piece fastens up the front with purple buttons. The sleeve and leg openings are trimmed in the peacock fabric; the elastic is mostly worn out. The waist is also elastic, but still has good action. Beautiful ANTIQUE French SILVER Embroidery THREAD & Woven BRONZE Metallic TRIM
Offered as a single lot are three wooden spools of antique metallic embroidery thread. The largest spool. Stamped“LYON” in red ink, measures approx. 4.25 inches long and holds a finely woven/twisted strand of silver embroidery thread. I do not know how much length there is, though one end of the wooden spool is damaged, as shown, and I can measure a depth of approx. 3/16 inches of silver thread. The silver thread is made of fine silver strands twisted with silk, and has a wonderful“heavy” feel to it. The two smaller wooden spools are wound with woven, or plaited, bronze or brass embroidery trim thread. Each spool holds a depth of approx. 1/8 inch bronze/brass trim. Condition of the lot is good, overall. As mentioned, the wooden spool which holds the heavy silk thread is damaged on one end as shown. There is some tarnishing of the exterior ... morestrands of silver thread, also as shown. The bronze/brass woven trim also has tarnishing on the exposed strands.
