Probably in the 1920's or 30's, by stitching together 2 antique Chinese rank badges, adding a silk lining and completing the handbag with 2 jade green faceted plastic handles and tassels. It is in very good antique condition with normal wear- the blue silk inner lining has some spots, there are a few loose threads, and the tassels are a bit faded. The handbag measures approx. 9.5 by 10 inches and the handles are just under 3 inches. We took lots of pictures so please examine them carefully and email if you have a question. Flat metallic gold thread, made of a cotton thread interior wrapped in narrow gold thread; it looks like two strands joined together which give the ribbon type appearance. The wooden spool is 4 1/4 inches tall and weighs 232 grams. At one end is written 1200. The significance of which I don't know. Some of the thread has been used but there remains a very large quantity, many many yards- but I don't know how many exactly. A wonderful vintage treasure. Vintage Dogon, Mali Indigo Resist Dyed Fabric/Metallic Thread/ 41”x 62"
Beautiful vintage handwoven cotton and dyed African indigo fabric. Made by the Dogon in Mali. Textiles are dyed with the stitch resist dying techniques and each piece is unique. All the ones I will be listing are hard to find. Older indigo pieces in very good conditon, and all were used and soft from wear and washing. This piece has a wonderful linear pattern of“X’s”butterfly) and“V’s” with metallic thread running down the length, is approximately 41" x 62” 4 strips sewn together; finished fringe on one end and unfinished on the other. It is in excellent condition with only one tiny hole by one end and no other damage or spots that I can see. You could almost use either side of the textile design. Spool Cabinet Store Display Madeira This spool cabinet store display is in excellent condition. Thread not included. It is clean with no significant damage. However. The right side of the header paper label has some waviness- see photos. The cabinet measures 16.75" tall, 17.75" wide, and 10.5" deep. It is heavy duty, weighing in at about 22 pounds. I think the display is made of wood underneath a Formica-like surface. Each slot for spools is 1.5" wide by 1" high. An old Coats& Clark wooden spool of ours holding 150 yards, is about 1" by 1.5" and it fits nicely. A newer Coats plastic spool containing 135 yards of thread also fit. The display has 6 rows of 10 spool slots for a total of 60 slots. Each slot is ramped higher in the back so spools roll forward. Each slot is about 10" deep. So, each slot ... morewould hold 10 spools that are about 1" by 1.5" for a total of 600 spools, depending of course, on spool size. The slots are labeled with colors and stock numbers. However, I think you could remove these paper labels if needed. Each case has holes in the back to suspend over screws or on a peg board. Also. Here are 2 very ornate& lined pre-owned curtains/panels from India. The main color is a leafy green. Which has a sheer gold fabric overlaid on top of it. The lining is the same leafy green. They are ornately embroidered with metallic silver threading that is also beaded. Along the edges and hem. There are star like silver embroidered flowers here and there. They look to be hand done. They each measure 42" wide by 7' 5" long. They have 4" long tabs at the top for attaching to a curtain rod.
