Old Gold This is a beautiful lot of very old carved wood posts with rich gilding. These are just gorgeous- could be French or Italian. Possibly Chinese- with dogwood-type blossoms and crosshatching. I don't see any sign of gesso; these appear to be all hand-carved. This set was clearly once part of something larger. Perhaps a chest or cabinet. All five posts have a backside where joints were made. Four are the same size at 21 3/8" long, the fifth is 15 5/8" long. All are about 1 1/2" in diameter. The quality of the carving is wonderful, and they are in good(though not perfect) condition, with a few nicks and losses here and there. If your gonna reupholster u gotta knock it lose anyway so i guess thats a help there(see last pic) the cushion bottom is kind of stained and scratched a little and back cushion needs a few staples in that area in last pic. like i said. If your redoing it its not an issue. An antique decorative embellishment for furniture. Walls, or wardrobes with cherubs and scrolls. Would make lovely adornment to a piece of furniture or even the top of door which I have seen. It is made in France and is the process is called Ormolu. The casting is very detailed. It measures 11.5 inches long(29 cm) and at the tallest part is 2 1/4 inches tall(5.50 cm) I have not cleaned it but left it as I found it in a french market. Payment by Paypal. An unusual tall case clock made for a french fashion doll. Made in Brittany region in the 1890-1900 era. The wood case is un- touched and has maintained its original finish.
